How does a ceasefire happen as long as Hamas is around? They’re not going to agree to any ceasefire. A unilateral ceasefire by Israel is just surrender.

Israel offered a cease-fire with the return of the hostages – innocent citizens whom Hamas terrifies and tortures. Instead of Hamas agreeing and protesting the Gazans, Hamas refused and demanded that their tried and convicted terrorists be released from Israeli prison- all of them. What do people actually think would happen if Israel unilaterally stops their military action now?
Seems pretty clear it would look like this:
– Israel stops attacking
– Short period of quiet while Hamas rearms and fortifies their positions
– Hamas launches another terrorist attack against Israeli civilians
– Israel responds even stronger against Hamas, and more civilians are killed
– Back to where we started
Does anyone genuinely believe it would play out differently?
He calls for a ceasefire, the Israelis do what? They capitulate and bow the knee, in your dreams. The “uncommitted” Democrats feel that’s sufficient and fully support him in November, wishful thinking. If the Israelis do the unimaginable and agree to a ceasefire, then what? Hamas decides to cease their attacks and releases all the hostages in good condition, why would you believe that? Food aid is rushed in and the Palestinians line up in orderly fashion and bless the US for their actions and the food. I think we saw what happened today in Gaza when 112 Palestinians were killed in a botched aid delivery. A ceasefire is a temporary bandage to a traumatic bleeding wound. Nothing will have changed, the actors remain the same, the issues remain the same, the deaths and destruction won’t have changed, the Palestinians will still be homeless and without hope, Hamas will still be in charge and using their misery for their gain, the Israelis will still be as intransigent as before, and meanwhile they all be waiting for the starting pistol to begin again.
In doing so, Biden will lose any ability to pressure two foreign countries he has no control over to stop their 75-year conflict.
