Vladimir Putin’s Russia weaponising immigration to destabilise Europe

  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

Russia is using private militias to control and “weaponise” immigration into Europe, The Telegraph can reveal.

The Kremlin has influence over a number of the main routes into the continent and border police are warning that, with the arrival of spring, Russia is likely to “intensify” its efforts to move migrants.

It has been widely feared that Vladimir Putin is using the tactic [to destabilise Europe](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/02/29/rishi-sunak-latest-news-budget-non-dom-tax-status-farage/).

The Telegraph has now seen intelligence documents detailing plans for Russian agents to set up a “15,000-man strong border police force” comprising [former militias in Libya](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/12/17/migrant-tragedy-libya-north-africa/) to control the flow of migrants.

A security source said: “If you can control the migrant routes into Europe then you can effectively control elections, because you can restrict or flood a certain area with migrants in order to influence public opinion at a crucial time.”

It comes as migration is set to be a key issue in [the general election](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/general-election-2024/).

A failure to control the number of migrants coming to the UK is already seen as a major weakness for Rishi Sunak, who is struggling to push through a[ scheme to deport illegal migrants to Rwanda](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/13/illegal-migrants-earmarked-rwanda-flights-awol-home-office/) to stop[ the flow of small boats across the Channel.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/02/28/three-migrants-die-trying-to-cross-channel/)

In the year to June 2023, 52,530 illegal migrants were recorded as entering the UK, up 17 per cent on the previous year. Most of these crossed the Channel in small boats.

Figures released on Thursday revealed that the [number of people granted asylum in the UK hit a record high](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/02/29/sunak-accused-stealth-amnesty-asylum-seekers-immigration/) in 2023 as officials waved through thousands of applications in an attempt to clear a huge post-pandemic backlog.

  2. It would be shorter to list what is not weaponized by Russia.

  3. All the far-right, anti-immigration, pro-russia parties won’t even acknowledge this because they only care about getting into power and thank daddy Putin for his assistance.

  4. I now believe the media 100% because Putin is worse than Hitler. But that aside – does this mean that immigration will now be controlled more? What’s the game plan here?

  5. European mass immigration is a result of US invasions and destabilization of the middle east.

  6. How is this even news ? Russian officials are quite literally saying they are at war with the west and will do everything to disrupt and destabilize the west including “means that are not talked about publicly”. And everyone makes pikachu face somehow.

  7. That man will stoop to nothing. Last time the headlines warned that he was weaponising weather to advance during the winter.

  8. Stop saying “Putin’s”. No, it is just russia. Russia how it always was and will be

  9. Yes always Putin’s fault.
Nothing to do with the West’s failed left wing ideology…

  10. While it’s fairly plausible that right now, the Russian government is indeed using migration warfare against the EU as part of a multi-pronged hybrid warfare scheme, one should not forget that the current migration wave in no small part stems from the almost complete erosion of sane migration controls during the zero years, and also 2010 years… and that this erosion was mainly the work of the European political left, who were so very fond of having migrants come over. For whatever reason. (“Open borders! Yay!”)

Putin is very good at spotting weaknesses, so this now gets exploited. In this case, the fact that Europe, under a (in my opinion, severely misguided) over-interpretation of human rights, more or less abolished all strong migration controls in the past 20 years. Prior to that, if you showed up in an EU country without having a right to do so, you were simply deported. Like you still are in most other parts of the globe.

As far as I can see, the political left in Europe still hasn’t quite given up on this idea, even when faced with the huge rise in right wing politics we are seeing now. Maybe the fact that Putin is actively exploiting their brainchild could bring about a change of mind. Or not, what with some of them being fans of Putin anyway.

A very odd world we are living in now. If you had forecast this sort of scenario 20 years ago, you would have been taken to the funny farm, for some R & R in the padded cell.

  11. Once again, Russia throwing bodies into the blood bath for imperial gain. Europe needs to singularly focus on defeating this menace like our society depends upon it, because it does. They undermine everything: freedom of speech and information, climate policies, free trade, political independence, the right to dissent, and even our rights to secure borders.

  12. No actual proof will be given. Russia bad, blah blah blah.

We eat babies and send immigrants to destroy EU, while EU has been accepting them for years and claiming to be immigrant-friendly 🤷🏻‍♂️

  13. So Russia is behind the immigration, behind the anti-immigrant right wing parties and possibly behind me not having a goth gf.

  14. Hmm who created immigrants at the first place bombing Syria Iraq Afghanistan

    Please

    Suck less read more

  15. Remember when Belarus was forcing Syrian refugees to cross the Poland border with guns.

  16. but when someone says that another group of people is doing that than it is a racist conspiracy theory

  17. I have an educated hunch Putin used Iran to use Hamas and Houthis as a giant maskirovska exercise. Maybe it’s just my machiaivellian cynicism.

  18. You could see that in past couple years on Polish border. Absolute cluster fuck. Immigrants being weaponized

  19. Damn I bet taking out Gaddafi had nothing to do with this and the West is not the author of its own doom

  20. Right, it’s all Putin doing it singlehandedly.

No European officials not giving shits about the millions coming it, not using navy and army to prevent it from happening, and no lobbies driving migration an celebrating the cheap labor…. it’s all Putin’s work.

All the pro-migration people are just victims to Putin’s scheme…..

But hell with it. If this would finally help to convince people that immigration is actually a bad thing, then I’ll allow it.

  21. Wiesław Kukuła current Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, put up a video some time before of how it looked when russia and bielarus started to fly in migrants with the promise of getting into the EU and [pushed them at polish border ](https://twitter.com/wieslawkukula/status/1705920755098083709?t=6s6G5y-NUQByMvVlYs8x2w&s=19).

We also had testimonys of soldiers who were there saying thar bielarusians started to give migrants wire cutters, hatchets to cut down tress, and also they were kidnapping their kids, saying they would give them back if they get past the border. They were also throwing people onto barbed wire, so they could pass. Guys who are in this mil-group on twitter (so you know they are not some randoms) were saying that there were guys after tours in Afganistan and Iraq there and nothing fucked them up quite like a week in that forest.

  22. Let’s see what Putin’s aide and architect of Russia’s Ukraine policy [had to say](https://www.reddit.com/r/geopolitics/comments/1ax6yoc/months_before_ukraine_invasion_putins_advisors/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) on this. I’m quoting directly:

    >Social entropy is very toxic. It is not recommended to work with it in our home environment. It should be taken somewhere far away. Export it for disposal on foreign soil.

    >The European Union, which is in a strange quantum state of either still emerging or already disintegrating, may in the future be both a source of chaos and its absorber. The latter seems more likely, thanks to the loose and perfectly inept structure of Eurocratic governance.

    >If this continues, the EU will become a dumping ground for political garbage, where vagrants and spies from all over the planet will heap up the rotten excesses of class and racial animosity.

  23. Send them to Russia instead. There is plenty of space there

  24. Well duh. Russia’s been trying to destabilize Europe for decades. Pushing immigration while aiding right-wing extremists is just one of many weapons Russia use against Europe.

  25. How would it destabilise us? Diversity is our greatest strength, allegedly.

  26. Same as Morocco and many other countries its nothing new lmao

  27. Russian troll army in the comments. Honestly Europe should focus its economic strength and trade deals less on the climate and more on destroying Russia’s economy and capabilities.
