[Warsaw, around 14:00 today.] I was returning home when this happened right in front of me. A garbage truck was compacting trash (black bins with mixed waste) when it suddenly burst into flames. The operator had to dump the whole contents of the truck on the street to minimise the damage to the vehicle.
This isn’t the first time this has happened, but it’s the first time I had a camera handy. I bet it was some bastard who threw away a bunch of single-use vapes — maybe even the same idiot who caused a similar fire last time.
Luckily, everyone reacted quickly. Drivers who were parked nearby grabbed fire extinguishers and helped to keep the fire from spreading until the fire brigade arrived.
I see all kinds of waste sorting violations every time I throw away the trash. It makes me absolutely angry and helpless. Why are people so irresponsible?
Someone has to make profit out of all that trash not being recikled in Poland. I dont have another explanation why a successful sistem such as the german one-where you deposit cans and bottles in supermarkets and get cash or market vouchers should not and isnt implemented in Poland. It would help with the menel population a lot, instead of hustling money by buying cigs and alcohol for minors infront of Żabkas
