I hope progressives realise some of the religious allies they are making also hold these anti-abortion views.
Absolutely insane. US politcs is derailing our country and bringing the worst of the far right and crazy zealots over here.
Guarantee it’s full of Jonties and radicalised Tradcels. Absolutely going to wander down next time and see if I’m right.
It’s awful to see this far-right bullshit coming over here.
The Tories and their media allies would love to replicate the worst elements of the US culture war. Campaigning to take bodily autonomy away from women is just one front of their fucked up battle.
I just don’t understand why people who are against abortion can’t content themselves with living by their own principles and letting others do the same. That goes for a lot of social issues.
Everyone involved is a muppet, our laws around abortion haven’t and aren’t changing. This isn’t America, get off social media.
> The protest appeared to become peaceful once one of the males involved left the scene.
So likely one nutter looking for a fight.
**’HUGE FIGHT BREAKS OUT!!!**’ = 2 dick-heads scrapping while people try and pull them apart, well done Metro lol
I think the issue is here people can see which way someone is trying to get the wind blowing.
You have a small group of people saying they have the right to those views.
Then they start marketing themselves and infecting others with their ideas.
And before you know it, they start saying they have the right to make you live by their views, and they’ve got enough of a following to start enforcing it.
Anti abortion movements will set the UK back decades if they get a foothold.
They are all pro-life until the child is born but when it comes to supporting the mother and child they are nowhere to be seen
Good, this is not the time to be quiet. This society needs to be stopped.
Twenty years ago when I was looking around Unis to attend, when I was at the open day at Manchester there were hundreds of riot police all across campus because two student groups were going at each other (I think it was an Israel/Palestine thing). I decided to study elsewhere…
I can’t wait to fuckin leave this shithole country
I’m pro choice but anti – abortion protests / groups (or pro life in the case as they seem to be against assisted suicide etc) have the right to exist and voice their opinion.
Free speech should be protected . And free speech comes with consequences- so if you break laws , you will , or should be, dealt with .
This body we’re meeting in private – not in public , so don’t see the need to protest against them tbf but as above , you have the right to do so as right to protest must also be protected but agin , fuck around / find out
I wouldn’t want a woman telling men if they can be circumcised, don’t think men should have input on the abortion debate. And men are always the ones you see doing this nonsense.
Is this part of that group who’s being funded by that right wing texan?
Idiots. The best thing to do would have to either ignore or mock this. Now they have a victim narrative and can legitimately claim their speech was being restricted.
Not much of a fight though. Certainly not ‘Huge’ as described by the Metro.
Let them have their meeting, let them have their say, let them campaign for what they believe in, free of threats of violence.
I hope the society’s members aren’t dissuaded by this violent reaction. Free speech doesn’t just apply to opinions you agree with or that are popular.
If people keep fighting against the criminalisation of abortion I’ll have to find a new method of controlling and subjugating women :/
Brits being viotlant away from a bar?
AT A PROTEST?!
Pinch me. We might still have a bit of testicle left after all.
