I was shopping at Rema, and I found a banknote on the floor so i was really happy since it is so rare to get free stuff in Norway. And then I saw this:

My confusion couldn’t be higher.

  1. Some sort of ad is my guess. Pretty sure it isn’t real money. Something tells me it is a souvenir.

  2. Looks fake, why would the EU make a Norway inspired bank note when we are not even in the EU

  3. He is kind of famous, been in the news a couple of times.

  4. he sells chains for a living and got really annoyed at the wealth tax so he decided to pay his tax in form of 25 tons of chains.
Btw theese Euro souvenir notes are really neat

  5. LOL JAN IS A LEGEND

Ok let me explain for those who don’t live in Vestlandet. Kjetting Jan is a rich man, he sells chains, a lot of chains. His real name is Jan Vindenes, you can read about him on CNN or ABC, they write a lot about him.

Basically, he became famous after covering the tax office in hundreds of tons of chains, as a crazy protest against wealth tax. He is a legend in Norway, huge respects for this man.

  6. This is Sotra Dollars. A local valuta that only can be used on an island vest of Bergen.

Never to be confused with Askøy

  7. Sotradollars. Den dagen Republikken bryter med resten av Norge 😉
