How can anyone take Hamas seriously at their outrageous claims? If you do the math, the hostages are dying at a much faster rate (many times faster) than Palestinians in general, so I don’t buy they were just “caught in the bombing”.

Hamas miscalculated the whole situation about the hostages because they thought that Israel will be on their knees a few months ago already and do whatever hamas is asking.
In reality, that’s not even close and each day that these hostages remain in Gaza things are getting tougher and tougher in Gaza and if the hostages will eventually get murdered by hamas then hamas won’t have any cards to play with (and if I were an ordinary palastinan living in Gaza I would be scared to death in this scenario because all hell will break loose).
I hate that civilians always suffer when their governments go to war, but after Oct.7 Israel has no choice but to grind out every last vestige of Hamas.
The fact Hamas cowers among civilians for protection can’t deter Israel because Hamas’s own spokesman went on tv and promised more massacres every week/month/year…assuring Israel that if Hamas survives then they’ll live to murder Israeli civilians.
When given an ultimatum like that, anyone would rather innocents on the other side than have innocents on their own side murdered as promised.
It’s an ugly, tragic situation but the current brutality is entirely Hamas’s fault. They’re reaping what they’ve sown.
