  1. Direct Provision 2.0

I feel sorry for whoever ends up there. Doubt many of the heroes who are against housing refugees would be too keen on staying there themselves.

  2. What is this? A centre for ants? How can we be expected to house children…. if they can’t even fit inside the building

  3. I know I’ve seen that somewhere before, isn’t that the fan village from the world cup in Qatar? 😂

  4. Like an aerial picture of a concentration camp – flip me! Is it segregated for women/children and men? Will it be policed or guarded? Grim!

  5. Finally they’re looking after our Irish homeless 🤦🏻‍♂️

  6. Send them back to a war zone, or better still, put them on the roadside in the cold. Unvetted males, females and children be damned. Coming over here stealing our land… Bloody for-and-ers. Ireland for the Irish (unless you’re my nurse, doctor, shop assistant, agricultural worker…)

  7. Hmmmm no amnesties, no integration into Irish society. Derelict and completely forgotten. Yepp this will turn out utterly fantastic!

  8. *In the interests of proper planning and sustainable development…*

  9. Feck, that’s grim. Designed specially to deter other I would imagine.

  10. This is literally temporary accommodation that is being thrown together quickly for an urgent need.

Were people expecting this to look like a stylish planned urban space or something? This is how you do things quickly, simple and repeatable.

  11. This looks far better than enriching hoteliers. This is what the anti-immigration people were asking for, right? They must be thrilled to see this.

  12. Is there a reason that houses aren’t built in the American style i.e Timber houses in Ireland? Seems like you have an estate lashes up in no time.

  13. The people: homeless people need accommodation and somewhere to sleep at night safe and warm.

The government: we recognize the concern and have now implemented emergency temporary accommodations until we can get them more permanent solutions.

The people: ……….. It’s not good enough !

  14. Honestly , If I was fleeing war or persecution I’d be happy to have a shelter like this provided for me.

Far from optimal but it’s better than a tent or living in a dormitory.

  15. So is it for refugees and the homeless cause I thought it was only for Ukrainian refugees?

  16. Have you ever seen the movie cube? I imagine it’s a bit like this

  17. Id like to see the inside.

Bed, fridge, sink I assume. Shower and toilet blocks seperate? Although it looks like sewage pipes being included.

  18. There will always be people moaning while offering zero solutions.

At least these are providing all the basic needs.. roof over your head, bed & pillows, electricity, warmth and food & water.

If I was running away from tanks and bombs I would be so grateful to Norway or Sweden or whichever other states went out of their way to provide these.

Now they’re not 4 star hotels with a seaview, swimming pool, jacuzzi and a cinema but that’s absolutely absurd for anyone to expect us to foot the bill for that.

  19. I live about 2 minutes away from the site. It’s looks very grim when you drive by. It’s looks like a miserable place to have to be housed. It also has no access to Naas. It’s just plonked in a field, if anyone wants to get anywhere they will have to walk on the road, which is far from ideal. Not a great road to be on. Unless they have a car obviously. Meant to house 1000 people apparently

24/7 security and when I passed twice today there was guards present, I assume due to the company getting an injunction from the high court caused by protestors?

My biggest concern by living locally is if it isn’t managed correctly it will turn into a slum, as others have mentioned. A 1000 people extra into an area with limited access to service can hardly be too great also, unless services are added which I would love to see.

  20. A battery farm for Soylent Green. The gov. Is banking on y’all saying “it’s better than nothing!” Btw. Slippy slope.

“We’re so desperate and folks ACTUALLY love their pods so much we’re just going to extended it by a few months, k guys? Pleeeaase guys, you wouldn’t want them back in tents now would you? Huh?!”

  21. I wonder what the per unit cost is? I’d love to see what’s inside them.

  22. This is good in many ways.

    a) Gets people out of tents into shelter which is the immediate and pressing need;

    b) Government is keeping its “own-door” promise but done at the minimal expense possible;

    c) If this kind of photo gets shared widely enough outisde of Ireland then the mad desire for asylum seekers to pass through other countries to come here rather than elsewhere should start to slowly abate, because this is grim.

Deterance has to be a big part of this, I’d wager.

Now we just need someone to kill that fucker P*tin and end the war so the poor Ukrainians can go home and we’ll start to make some progress.

  23. Guess that’s what Roderic O’Gorman meant by own door accommodation….

  24. well those refugees should be happy, free accommodation + 1k every month from our taxes

  25. These are a stepping stone to getting a bit of dignity back into a life
