  1. not a new tactic but nice to see it working as intended

  2. That’s a Caltrop, not a “mini hedgehog”.

  3. I’d rather one of these than a land mine. Shit. They (might have) saved this dudes life.

  4. How about dropping some onions? Keep them busy picking?

  6. Should be followed by grenade drops after vehicle is disabled

  7. While this one was effective, they are more effective if you use hollow pipes of some type and put barbs on the outside.

The idea is to get them to stick in the tire and all the air goes through the pipe.

Again, sure this one worked… but they can be made MORE effective πŸ™‚

  8. Driving 120 kph avoiding drones but straight over a bunch of caltrops you didn’t see. Oopsie

  9. they need to give off a high pitched whine then they could call them Sonic the hedgehogs.

  10. Reminds me when the Americans used planes to drop ship mines in Japanese shipping lanes during WWII. It was hugely successful! I hope Ukraine will continue if it works. Maybe put mines on the sides of the road with these on the road…

  11. Hahah, awesome! I had this same idea a few weeks ago, and posted about it in here 28 days ago. πŸ™‚

“I keep noticing a thing in videos like this. A lot of russian vehicles use rubber tires which are vulnerable. Not tank tracks.

I’ve been thinking, wouldn’t it be efficient to place ‘James Bond like spike pyramids’ on the roads, to attack Russia’s transport capacity?

If you design them the right way, they can attach to the ground (unpaved) with a ‘stabilizing spike’ that penetrates fairly deep, maybe 5-7 centimeters (2″). This would make them long lasting.

Videos like these, where you see how absolutely impossible it would be to detect spikes like that, make me think it’s a serious idea. The roads are just littered with dirt and random small objects.

I realize I should be drawing these so you can visualize, but I think many get the idea. Place things on the road. Tires run them over. Flat tire and/or outer tire damage that’s even more difficult to repair. How do you only damage outer tire? You make it as a ‘blade’ that only slices up the outer tire, but doesn’t puncture the inner one. Slightly larger, but still, lots of debris on these roads.

Use drones to place them behind enemy lines. They can carry tons and tons of them if you only use the ‘simple spike pyramid’ kind, as they’re more light weight than bombs. And you only need a few per road for them to be efficient.”

  12. Brilliant idea, could be dipped to shit before dropping, maybe some rus would get infected while working with tyres

  13. Guess run flat and airless designs are still too expensive for most military vehicles.

  14. Based on the comment section here, I’m starting to believe these things might actually be called caltrops. Not entirely sure about it, though πŸ€”

  15. I think you call them Calthrops, they Used to be used to cripple cavalry as far back as the middle ages, as an early area denial weapon.

  16. After reading the title, I thought Ukrainians invented some hedgehog drones hunting down trucks lol.

  17. Brilliant. Anybody with a angle grinder or cut off saw and a welder can crank these out on the cheap. Any person over age 10 can be taught to cut and weld well enough to make these in about 30 minutes.

Volume of production and deployment is the key.

Glory to Ukraine! Peace in Ukraine!

  18. Here’s our favorite lawn.

First trip out, first combat loss of a wheel.

The wheel was left in position, we barely made it out.

This is the kind of thing the “sculptors” are throwing at us.

This is the second one we’ve pulled out.

And so two Ural trucks without wheels. “I606Y” without wheels came today.

    That’s how we work, guys.

This is our battle horse, our savior.

Two trips out, two wheels lost, dumped on the road.

This is what we picked up.

And cars are still coming in with flat tires.

I mean, it’s all fucking scattered out there.

All the tires buried, all the bills picked up.

    It’s an extreme outing.

    Such expensive guys.

  19. Its a plot to have Russia import more chinese made tires.

  20. It’s incredible to me that a weapon that has been used for thousands of years still has a place on the modern battlefield field

  21. What a great use of all the scrap metal the Orcs have so kindly contributed to Ukraine. It’s also a very inexpensive way to really hurt Orc logistics. As previously stated by another post, this needs to be followed up by explosive dropping or FPV drone attacks on the disabled trucks and vehicles.

  22. These are caltrops, they have been in use to disable horses for 2000 years; the Romans used them prodigiously.

  23. Those savages didn’t even drop any snickers. Gonna be a while waiting for a repair.

    Slava Ukraini

  24. I’d say those caltrops are highly effective when the Russians spend all day watching the sky.
