hello I’m a football manager 24 player from England and I’m looking to do a save in Bulgaria with a hope of taking a team to European glory and knocking Ludogorets off there perch 😉 I need some suggestions on what team to be from the 2nd division

  1. Dunav and Septemvri are good options, they have good stadiums/ bases, and kind of fan base, which is important for a football club…my opinion!

  2. Chose Marek probably has one of the best history of them all (my opinion).

  3. Spartak Varna and Maritsa would be my two favorites. The first one has lots of potential, and at least one player that develops extremely well (don’t want to spoil it for you) if you can hold on to him. Maritsa is known as the birthplace of many great talents over the years and has historically been supported as a neutral choice by many supporters of other local teams (namely Botev and lokomotiv).

A piece of advice from a fellow FM player. European glory is very hard to achieve for most Bulgarian teams in the game. It’s easy to dominate the local championship within a few seasons but the other teams remain quite weak, thus the league itself remains uncompetitive. Makes it difficult to attract good established players, while the young wonderkids get bought out at a lower price. Best of luck and let us know who you decide to go with.

  4. chernomorets burgas (burgas is the biggest city without a good team in bulgaria)

  5. Go for Dunav. Big city, nice stadium relatively close to Lusogorets’ town so it could count as local derby. Or Spartak Varna with same benefits

  6. Spartak Varna, Dunav Ruse, Chernomorets Burgas and Marek Dupnitsa are the biggest teams down in the second division.

Spartak Varna has a large fan-base for Bulgarian standards, definitely one of the largest in the entire country. The squad is one of the better ones in the division and you would be expected to get promoted in your first season. They have won the title only once in their history, but they’ve been one of the better teams in the division especially in their early history.

Chernomorets Burgas makes sense because there is no team from Burgas currently in the top flight and the city is around the 4th biggest in the country.

Marek has traditionally been in the top flight of Bulgarian football but never won it, however they’ve always been a good team. They have a legendary victory over Bayern Munich, beating them 2:0 in the UEFA Cup in 1977. Dupnitsa has historically been a very difficult away day, a very tough ground to play in.

Dunav Ruse has a very loyal fanbase which turns up in great numbers. More people visit their games in the second division than most clubs that play in our top flight. They actually managed to finish in 4th place in the first division during the **2016/17** season. Ruse is a beautiful town with great architecture.

Fan-base wise Dunav and Spartak Varna have the most fans. Historically Spartak and Marek have been the ‘big dogs’. Chernomorets Burgas have not really lived up to their potential considering the size of the city they are playing in. I would chose one of those 4 teams.

  7. if you want a real fairytale pick Bdin Vidin – the poorest region in the EU
