  1. Next week: Russia at fault for rainy weather in Scotland

  2. Lets not blame everything on Russia. It could end up with a “boy who cried wolf” situation

  3. Well, maybe russian somehow started, however this is definitely ours media who became insane about that.

  4. Russia is an evil terrorist state, but really come on. So Russia spent millions in planning and carrying out a bedbug attack, for what? Minor inconvenience?

  5. Systematic disinformation is a very clear part of Russia’s playbook and has been for a very long time – it should not be surprising that we find them basically stoking each and every negative news story. Undermining the idea that Europe is “better” than Russia is critical to both their internal and lately their external propaganda as they seek to make the case to people who are disenfranchised at the moment that democracy has failed and authoritarianism is the way forward.

What is critical is that we find ways to counter this (ignoring it in this case might be a better idea) and find ways to increase the costs at home of this kind of behaviour. Tolerating the spread of disinformation in the name of free speech is not going to end well.

  6. Guys, all bad things happening now and in the future in European countries? Not us. They are Russian disinfo campaigns. Just give us more power to protect you against the things we are scaring you with.

  7. What if this article is another Russian psy-op, to make people afraid of Russia? To make people think that Russia has more control than they really do? To make it seem like Russia is supposedly capable of doing psy-ops in Europe but they actually aren’t? Can’t trust **anything** at this point. Infusing doubt *and* fear into people’s minds is a well-known tactic used by those who want to divide a certain people… if you manage to make your opponent confused and less confident, that’s half the battle won.

Also, isn’t this actually a real issue tho? I saw several interviews online with owners of bed bugs removal companies that said business was booming more than ever and that the issue was real. Even hotel owners in Paris talked about this in interviews and said it was the worse they’ve seen…

Now, if none of it was real and it was a Russian misinformation campaign, why would Hotel owners still say publicly that their hotel is full of bed bugs and therefore they’d lose a lot of their business? Perhaps the Russians just took advantage of a real situation and they made it seem like it was so much worse, when in fact it was “just bad”. Doesn’t mean there isn’t a real issue.

  8. At this point it feels like the revrse flash meme “it was me barry (insert ridiclous thing here) i did it”

Like is russia so petty or so ingrained in Europe litearly everything bad and everything negative has been stoked or caused by it?

  9. The Westerners are slowly waking about all the russian hybrid war operations.

And this is just the visible part of the iceberg…

  10. Yeah. If a dog barks in the neighborhood, that’ll be stoked by Russia as well.

I mean, our media is being run by people with cognitive ability similar to that of “Sleepy Joe” Biden.

    🥴🤡

  11. A different topic, but people keep thinking crime rates are going up even though they are actually going down. People then will vote accordingly. This is because the perception of crime is more important than the statistics.

By creating negative narratives Russia is sowing the seeds for discontent in the west. And people in this post are falling for it.

  12. I guess that this was to cause shit whilst people were planning on buying tickets, hotels and flights for the Paris Olympics

  13. But is kinda believable because France have no way of getting rid of them free? Here it’s free to get rid and they will instantly help you which makes none hesitate cause of cost = no spread

    Insurance covers no question

  14. can’t believe this is hard to believe for some of you, russian misinformation has been around forever. it really doesn’t cost a lot to spread either. it’s well documented and widespread

  15. I think Satan was invented in Russia and brought to France, since then he has ruined the life of the French significantly 😱

  16. me sleeping badly today was actually caused by russia too

  17. The propaganda issue is quite easy to resolve.

    Audit the mainstream media.

  18. So if there were no there, there, why did it pick up by the media and politicians? Maybe, that’s a testament of how stupid politicians and the media are.

  19. Believe it or not. That’s why I’m not comfortable with Hotels. Even bevore this news…

  20. I bet these news editors will soon blame their wives’ pregnancies on Russia too.

  21. Okay I hate the russian govt as much as the next guy but are we gonna blame everything on them from now on? This getting ridiculous, its like cold war US blaming everything on the soviets

  22. Western medias have been spreading this story but somehow Russia is to blame. It is just trendy to blame Russia nowadays for everything. It is easier than actually thinking about complex issues.

  23. Wow, everything is Russia.

Just wash your sheets regularly, people.

  24. Shoe gets untied? Russia. Bus is late? Russia. Lost your phone? Russia

  25. The usefully useless news media ate it up and asked for more. Dupes.

  26. If there’s some truth to it, that’s wild. I remember the stories being presented everywhere and pretty rationally, and nearly every comment would agree this was to be taken seriously, and they *seemed* to be confirmed by health media officials, but I admit I didn’t dig into the sources much. Then it disappeared from the public discourse completely from one day to another. Did I get gaslighted by a Russian operation without my knowledge?

  27. I got bedbugs taking a train from Paris towards Calais. It may have been hyped, but it happened and it sucked.

  28. Amplified by social media? Amplified by TF1 and all the other media lol. For more than a week, the news were full of it. Either the journalists didn’t do their job properly if it was indeed a fake exaggeration, or ot shows how our media is too vulnerable because everything has to be milked to the last drop before the cow is even in the shed.

I checked again, TF1 reported 1 in 10 beds had a bedbug problem. Then after some months public hysteria set in, and only then the Russians amplified it.

But the articles are silent on the real reach of Russian amplification. The article only talks about some Telegram channels – no evidence of real impact.

  29. Of course they were. First they help people fleeing their countries get to Europe, then they whip up conflict between locals and immigrants.
