Looks to me like he just won’t be held accountable. I just don’t see how the country survives this slide into authoritarianism.
*This* is the case that needs to be heard, that’s the clearest violation of the law, and the one that can legitimately put him in jail, and it is getting delayed by someone appointed by the accused to her office.
I have held multiple security clearances in my career while working for various governmental organizations. It was made **crystal clear** to us that if we mishandled classified data, we would spend time in jail. Period. Not only did he retain and mishandle state secrets and classified intelligence, it looks like he may have sold these documents and gotten informants killed. If so, he is culpable for their deaths.
If this (poor excuse for a) man gets away with it, then there is no justice, no rule of law, and there’s no hope for the United States.
I imagine that this is how the good Americans fighting for the Union and the Constitution felt in March 1864, when everyone thought Lincoln was going to lose and that his opponents would make peace with the Confederacy if he lost.
But the right side prevailed in November 1864 and here’s hoping the right side wins in November 2024.

Justice is slow but relentless. The Jan 6th trials are still underway 3+ years later. In the mean time we can watch them sell off his NY buildings. One needs to be renamed Jean Carroll tower.

The Supreme Court just decided to hear the immunity case and make a decision in June. That pushes the insurrection trial out to August at best.
The documents trial was set for May 20th. Since sitting on that date no longer effects the insurrection trial date, Cannon chose August which lines up with the earliest trial date after the June decision. Effectively pushing that trial until after the election.
I expect something will come up that will delay Cannon’s August date.
The only way to stop this is for those who oppose it to engage the fascists with their own tactics. Thereby becoming the thing they hate in order to save what they love, i.e. democracy. To hell with being good. To hell with the high road. Cut them off at the knees and hound them into oblivion. This Neville Chamberlain shit does not work. No appeasement, only action. Now.

Cannon will then continue to slow walk the case and take months to issue routine decisions, which will result in another postponement and prevent both cases from going to trial before the election regardless of what the Supreme Court decides in the DC case.
