A “once-contentious technology?” It’s an appeasement technology, for recalcitrant conservatives. “Sure, we could go with well established, safe and cheap but that’s ‘green’. Let’s go with horrendously expensive! That’s a good distraction while we actually just stuck with the status quo of fossil fuels everywhere.”
