Its nice to see some positive news every now and then.
Easy to think the world is going to hell. But when you think about it, half a billion Chinese pulled out of poverty, rates of starvation/malnutrition in Africa slashed, and now extreme poverty in India being overcome. Its good to see some things improving and its not all doom-and-gloom.
Oh good. Now let’s just solve the middle east stuff.
The data show a strikingly lower number of poor people in India, at both thresholds, than those estimated by the World Bank.
“We report that we’re doing great, no need to independently verify, carry on”
I’ve read two articles about this now and in neither one could I find anything about verifying the information provided, perhaps it is accurate, but I’m not trusting any survey conducted by the Modi administration.
I wouldn’t believe that for a fuckin second lol
And a monkey just flew out of my butt.
Ahaha, I have already heard this pattern in one extremely poor country. Then they went to the war.
they said so it is true.
My lord, has the cast system been abandoned?!
Because those people who pulled themselves from poverty, are slowly being pushed back to extreme poverty due to inflation and current state of economy.
It seems we have IMPORTED it to the UNITED STATES!
There must be a lot of nationalistic Indians on Reddit because I constantly see a lot of India worshipping posts and these posts are usually completely false
On a *completely unrelated note*, I have a bridge to sell you.
Last time I was in Mumbai on the drive from the airport to the inner city there were people sleeping rough everywhere, the worst I’ve ever seen. I’m skeptical
So in other words, there is still poverty, just not at the extreme level. Got it 👍
It’s called upgrading people. We just upgraded from extreme poverty to poverty.
I’ve been to India not very long ago. I find that hard to believe.
X to doubt

I hope that’s true.
There are too many people in the world. It’s not overpopulation, it’s OVERCROWDING.
The WORST thing humans can do at this time (raging 20s) is to create ANY further human slaves to be tortured and farmed by Capitalism.
We need to fix the corruption in the US Supreme Court and US political system in general before people should make any more children.
False
They throw out and waste over half the food they grow cause they can’t seem to understand proper storage so a huge part of the population starves daily even though they are the second largest producer of food in the world. What a dump of a country. I wouldn’t believe any thing of this article
Just like how Trump said he won the election?
Well, there won’t be any more slum dog millionaires
*REDUCED the number of people spending less than $1.90 a day to 2%.
2% of **the entire population of India**. But sure let’s pretend it’s “eliminated”. CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING THE ONLY PLACE IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF HUMAN CIVILIZATION TO ELIMINATE EXTREME POVERTY!!!
Dude, they have meat-trains. Shut the hell up! lol.
Are people in the comment section have really read the report. It doesn’t India has removed poverty It says India has eliminated extreme poverty ‘EXTREME’ and this report is based on report of Us think tank not Modi government. It means India still has poverty and problems but it is not the case what is use to be . I have seen change with my own eyes on ground level through various schemes of multiple government it has been achieved not overnight and current schemes such house for poor and development of Mumbai slums has helped. India still has 20% poverty rate and there multiple news poverty level has gone down . But people on reddit has already formed there oppnion that what is right what is not .
Doubt
They trying to write jokes now? It’s not working…
