There is a stereotype that people from rural areas are out of touch, narrow minded, and ignorant ( lacking knowledge – not necessarily being offensive ).
There is the word “provincial” for that with a double meaning.

You have people living lives in isolation out on the farm or out in the woods. The only people they interact with are isolated too. Worse, you now have right wing propaganda piped into that isolation without any other input.
Why does it need to be about race or region? A black urban Trump supporter or a Hispanic suburban Trump supporter is just as much a threat to democracy as a white rural Trump supporter.

Ive been in Nebraska for my life. Omaha and Lincoln metro have the majority of people, mostly blue among younger demographics. The rest of western Nebraska small towns makes it all red. All the older families and farm estates. These towns are dying. No one moving to them and people dying. It’s scattered small amounts that add up to beat the city side.
These types of articles are very divisive, and define nearly 100 million U.S citizens as enemy’s of the state.
It’s unhealthy for society, categorically untrue, and counterproductive for Democrats election hopes this November.

Was talking to a coworker the other day who has a household with 5 school age child in it. Some theirs and some from a previous marriage. The topic of homeschool vs public school came up. They were practically in tears. Their posture and expression was one of pain and confusion. They were clearly afraid and worried for their children and their way (culture & values) of life.
They told me that it hasn’t spread to our state ‘yet’ but public schools across the country were providing sex change surgeries to children. That the schools weren’t telling parents. The schools would provide the kids with the hormones, keep it a secret, and the parents would know until after the children transitioned. My coworker was absolutely serious, felt they had researched the issue thoroughly, and are miserable about it.
In a bizarre universe where public schools provide and or promote sex change surgeries, to include all the prescriptions, to children Biden’s leadership will be viewed poorly. The amount of propaganda out there simply cannot be overstated. People are not forming opinions based on how they feel about marginal tax rates or inflation. People are in information bubbles being told the border is wide open, every immigrant gets free healthcare, and police aren’t allowed to arrest immigrants even if the immigrant rapes someone.
These are the people who were left behind by 40 years of Reaganomics. They were made to believe in trickle down, but it wasn’t for them. They watched their industrial jobs get shipped overseas and their middle class futures evaporate. The divide between college educated and high school has widened and become more region-dependent. If you are born in a rural area the odds you will ever escape poverty are low, yet Fox News is able to convince these people they will be millionaires too if they make Donald Trump president.
