In Romania, Hard-Won Abortion Rights Are Being Systematically Undermined

  1. Pro-choice idiots in Romania should be forced to hear the cases where women died while performing an illegal abortion during Ceaușescu.

Going back to those dark times after the Decree that banned abortion is a clear proof of the infinite stupidity of conservatives here… and the vast majority of Romanians are conservatives.

We started to go on the paths of extreme nationalism and conservatism. We will become an even bigger headache than Poland and Hungary combined. At least in those two countries a progressive part of society exists. Romania does not have this and will never have a meaningful part because the vast majority of us are incredibly conservative.

  2. I think Romania is the only country in the world where abortion was been banned by a far-left extremist and is now being banned by politicians who identify with the center-left.

In Poland abortion was curbed pretty much every decade from the end of WWII to the 1990s when it was banned. So that’s the only other example but nowadays abortion has a clear traditional left-right divide.

  3. This article has already been posted here, some time ago.

It is but bullshit to make a case out of nothing. Abortion couldn’t be more free than in Romania. Besides, abortion is a bad birth control method. Much abortion doesn’t exactly mean freedom and women’s emancipation. There are much better ways for birth control.

  4. >A reporter contacted 189 hospitals with gynecology departments, finding that sixty of them refused to perform abortions.

    >Indeed, doctors across the country are increasingly invoking a conscientious objector clause included in Romania’s 2016 professional code for medics, where doctors can cite moral reasons such as religious beliefs for refusing to perform procedures. These conscience-based refusal laws are common across the EU.

If only some of the activists would study medicine, open their own practice and perform abortions then the whole problem would not exist. I guess that that’s too hard, better write another article about how people having the right to choose is bad.
