Group accused of ‘weaponising prayer’ to disrupt Ashling Murphy vigil in Limerick

  1. I have an opinion on educating men about violence that would not square with most peoples. I think a certain amount of violence and murder are inevitable and education won’t fix it. And some of it will be against women unfortunately.

    But…

What a bunch of fucking arseholes!!!

Could you not just leave it be???

    That’s low!

  2. The fragility of some people. A vigil for a murdered girl and they have to take it as a personal attack and go disrupt it with their “men’s rosary”?

If someone says that men shouldn’t kill and abuse women and you think that’s aimed directly at you then you are proving that you are exactly the type of person who needs to treat women better.

  3. These are the same kind of people who sent that e-mail to Katie Hannon, they do it because they feel safe doing it. I wouldn’t mind if the gardaí used every possible resource to find and hold them to account, or ‘accidentally’ leak their names to the press

  4. I can’t see what reason thet have for doing this. Even the most religious people I know wouldn’t dream of doing something like that.. This crowd are extra batshit crazy. They should have being named

  5. > Event organiser and ROSA member, Stefanie Di Croce, said that although groups do gather at other locations to say the rosary in Limerick, she has never seen a rosary group on Bedford Row before

Maybe they change around but I’ve seen them there a good few times.

  6. Here, where’d all those guys proclaiming that they shouldn’t have to do anything cause they don’t attack women go?

It’s gotten awful quite all of a sudden.

  7. Jesus wept, people need to get a grip and kop the fuck on. I’m so tired of all this stupid bullshit. Humanity needs a swift fong up the hole to sort itself out now fairly lively.

  8. > links to the far-right Irish Freedom Party

To think people vote for this shower

5k first preference last time out. Puts them in the micro (nano?) party territory but still.

  9. The “Men’s Rosery”?

What kind of utter bullshit is that. That’s right up there with “Straight Pride”, “All Lives Matter”, “Aryan Race”, “White Power”, and all that other neo-Nazi fascist-style fuckery.

    Honestly, what with some people?

  10. I saw this crowd protesting abortion outside the Limerick maternity hospital once. After a few minutes of the protest a man came out from the hospital and started spraying weed killer just inside the hospital grounds right next to them and they all had to fuck off because of the fumes.

  11. As a bloke, the murder of Ashling Murphy is both shocking AND a renewed call to hear women’s voices, respect their lives and experiences and tell men to behave better.

I can guarantee as a younger man I didn’t speak up when I should have, so being tarred by this brush is deserved and a reminder.

  12. Seems like these dudes are your typical right wing assholes. Homophobic, anti-women, anti-abortion…. Basically anti anything that would mean equality for anyone with straight white men. They’ll jump on any cause to further their message.

“When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression”.

They are essentially protesting against the concept of a call to address violence against women, and somehow believe that such a call is against “all men”.

They are protesting against a vigil for a murdered young woman. I mean that’s what Jesus would do, right? /s 🙄

  13. They went somewhere they weren’t wanted and then refused to leave, raising the volume on their P.A. when anyone at the vigil tried to speak.. absolute classless fucks.

  14. “The Irish Men’s Rosary set up on Bedford Row today instead of their usual spot on Thomas St as an extraordinary attempt to disrupt”

Fucking Gowls of the highest order.

I wonder how they’d feel if it was one of their daughters.

  15. To the lads who tried to make this about men being the victims in the thread the other day: this is what you’re aligning yourselves with.

  16. What makes it worse is that the men’s rosary is usually set up else where on Thomas Street, but they moved it to Bedford row because of the vigil happening at the same time that they usually have the rosary

It was very deliberate and scummy if you ask me

  17. I’m wondering if theres a role for the Catholic church here? Perhaps the Primate or the Bishop could come out and condemn this very un Christ like behaviour? Perhaps throw in an excommunication or two?

  18. A young women horribly taken and we got lads out here thinking their the victims.. think about she went for a fucking run and now she’s dead. Every person especially women without a doubt should not have to take into consideration that they will be murdered, raped or harassed when they simply want to go for a run. Need to do better, a lot of men complaining but one day you’ll have a daughter who WILL come across what a lot of women are preaching this week! Let the family and friends celebrate this womens life and let’s do better… shocking behaviour in Limerick today

  19. I’m getting really fuckin sick of these far right clowns, they need to be put back in their box where they can keep their fascist 1930s attitudes out of public discourse.

  20. They remind me of the same people who feel compelled to shout ‘white lives matter’ whenever they see anything BLM. Same brand of small dick energy.

If you’re somehow opposed an anti-femicide demonstration, you’re probably a misogynist.

  21. We need to be more intolerant of intolerance, scum like this need to be shut down with force if necessary. Guards should of confiscated their speaker
