Putin keeps claiming there was no Ukraine until Lenin, but here is a German map ‘Ukraine or the Cossacks’ Land’ of 1720

  1. Putin is correct in that there has not been such a *state* before Lenin, however the word does mean ‘borderlands’ and has been used in this generic sense to refer to various territories.

  2. About the “border myth” that moskovians-russians try to push.

As we all know moskovians-russians are not Slavs, but fino-hungarians.

The so-called russian language (correct name Churc-Bulgarian language) is not native to them.

Also. moskovians-russians can not understand any Slavic language at all.

    …..

This is why moskovians do not know the word

    #”край” krai ~ “країна” krayina ~ country

    Armia Krajowa = Poland Army = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Army

    Srpska Krajina = Serbian country = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Serbian_Krajina

Bosanska Krajina = Босанска Крајина = a subregion of Bosnia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosanska_Krajina

  3. What does it even matter if it didn’t exist? Ukrainian people existed regardless of not having an ethnostate

  4. This is not even the oldest map. I’ve seen maps from the early 1600s that mention Ukraine and the earliest documented use of the word is from the 1100s. The Slavic inhabitants of this area were traditionally known as the Rus (Ruthenians in Latin). When the Muscovite rulers became strong enough to expand their lands (by force, not unlike what they are still doing today), they stole the word Rus from the old Rus Empire that had ruled over the lands they were conquering and began to use the name Russia to give themselves legitimacy. The history of the Russian state that is taught in Russia is made up of absurd claims and great stretches of the truth. How do you know Putin is lying? His lips are moving.

  5. We need more nations showcasing their old historic maps, just to meme on ru about how schizo they are.

  6. Not here to take any sides but the map has at least one mistake. Walachia and Moldavia are displayed vice versa. Could have more mistakes.

  7. > Technically, Russia should belong to the Ukraine. I suggest Putin should give Russia back

Honestly, the whole world, Russia included,
would probably be better off if Ukraine took
over control of Russia from Putin.

  8. I mean even Tucker Carlson recently stated that Putin’s arguments were “one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard”. I don’t see much point in trying to disprove the schizophrenic lies Putin comes up with to justify Russias good old fashioned war of conquest and pillage.

  9. Does this matter? All colonies should return to their old sovereign then? Does this make sense?

History means development. Why Putin can chose a period he sees fit for his argument? The Golden Horde could also claim Russia as we got reminded of.

  10. putin takes to much pills

however most so-called ‘russians’ are delusional about their history…

  11. Tartaria Minor is an absolutely badass name for a place

  12. Putin has tried to rewrite history on several occasions. He thinks if he says something often enough, people will believe him.

  13. It’s irrelevant even if what he said was true. People have a right to self determination. The people living there decided they are not Russian and want to be independent.

  14. This is a poor argument. That’s like saying Belgium has existed for 2000 years because the region of Belgica existed.

  15. The moment you play Putin’s game, you have already lost. Even if what he said was 100% (which is not) it doesn’t change anything at all. Ukrainian people exist today, in internationally recognized borders and are willing to defend their country despite all the hardships. If that’s not a proof that Ukraine exists, then I don’t know what is.

  16. I don’t even know why this is a point of discussion. Ukraine being historically a country was never up for discussion.

  17. Many countries never existed in their current form at some point in history. It is not an argument but a justification for the illiterate.

  18. Its funny that… only argument to UA existence as a state is … some german map

  19. Bad propaganda. He literally mentions Ukraine existing in his interview. What he said is that Lenin made for some unknown to him reason Ukraine from a preferacture to a Soviet Republic and even handed them lands from the Russian federation 100 years ago which it’s true.

  20. Not a Putin defender, but he didn’t say that. He said that at first Ukraine was a name of a region. And it’s from a few centuries earlier than 1700s.
So Ukraine as a country. Not the same thing as a historical concept.

  21. Putin is an example of what happens to many men at late stages of their lives when they retire and get interest in war history (hey, it might happen to me too)). Usually it’s either WW2 or Ancient Rome. And it’s harmless and fun to chat about your theories (which are probably not yours but you forgot that you heard them somewhere)

The difference is that Putin has zero restraints, entire country at his whim and he believes he can’t do no wrong.
