Didn’t know the police offered a free recovery service.
Geez what’s next, them saying sorry you shouldn’t have got in the back of the van of a dodgy police officer we hired.
I work for a tracking company in the UK, when a car is stolen, we deal directly with the force in that county to get the car back.
We never tell the customer where the car is, even when they ask, as it’s a risk to their life.
That’s because the police aren’t here to *solve crimes* in the case of theft and burglary. They’re here to provide an admin service for insurance companies.
“Cool, I’ll take my crossbow in case they give me any shit…
…see you there”
Fucking shameful. The filth don’t give a shit about the public. They don’t even see protection as their job. Too busy policing protests and free speech.
That’s because the 350 millions per week only go to the NHS and the police is now underfunded.
This is just anecdotal, but a few years back, in Spain, my ex locked herself out of her first floor flat after a night out with a friend. They were making some noise so someone called the police in case it was a burglary.
The police showed up, checked the id for the address, and quickly realised it wasn’t a burglary. They explained the situation, and the cops went away, only to come back a short while later with one of them carrying a long ladder (it was too long for the car, so the one wasn’t driving was holding it outside through the window).
Then one of the cops and my ex used the ladder to climb into the flat through the balcony (he used a pry bar to nudge the balcony door open), he checked there was no foul play, like someone who lived there and had changed the locks to keep her out. Then they were on their way back to the station with their ladder.
I can’t imagine something like that happening here.
Edit: the next day, they brought them a bottle of wine to the station as a thank you.
Anyone who has ever asked the police for help will know they’re the least helpful people you could ask. They look at you as though you’re bothering them, as though they’re not in a role to serve you.
Doesn’t matter how you ask, what the question is, which country you’re in. They’re not curious or active.
Well a lot of us are encouraged to use the self checkouts. Why not self police too.
I was the victim of a hit and run by a car outside my house three months ago at the early hours which damaged my parked car when I was asleep.
In my own investigation I’ve managed to get a partial number plate, identified the make, model and colour of the car and even managed to get CCTV footage of the car leaving my street.
The police however to date haven’t even had an officer look at the case and I’ve been told it is sitting in a massive ‘to do’ pile at the moment and not to hold any hope of it being looked at.
>They told me they wouldn’t be there for at ***least an hour***. It was a dodgy part of Hackney. I felt unsafe.’
>Ms Vlad says the police advised her to go and see if her car was parked but told her not to approach if someone was in it, and to call them when she was there.
Rage bait headline.
She decided to recover it on her own by choice.
>Ms Vlad, who is originally from Romania, decided to take matters into her own hands and approached the car.
It’s nothing new. My son’s car was stolen in Liverpool. 15 years ago. Couple of days later the police tell him it’s been found, and give him the location. He can’t get there the same day, he’s got no transport; but when he does go the car’s nowhere to be seen – it’s been nicked again. Never saw it again.
The article said they could attend in 1 hour. Is that not reasonable? There are limited officers. What were they supposed to say? “Sure, we’ll cut this domestic violence/ mugging/ GBH visit short because we need to pick up some woman’s lexus”? I think the headline is rage bait.
Police in the UK are just such a shit Police force, either they are under funded or just lazy fucks.
I had a drunk man knock on my door one night thinking it was his mate’s house. I told him he had the wrong house and shut the door. He then proceed to try and kick the door in, whilst shouting abuse. I rang the police only to be told to open the door and try and calm the bloke down, me – a single female with no one else in the house try and pacify an aggressive drunk trying to break in. It wasn’t until he kicked the door so hard that one of the paintings in the hallway crushed to the floor making a godawful noise that the switchboard operator was like ‘oh, was that him?’ that they agreed to send the car over.
So rather than abduct the woman themselves, the Met have just decided to let them go and be abducted themselves? Suppose it’s a kind of improvement /s
This happened to me. My van was stolen from our driveway, reported it to the police, they told me it wasn’t a priority. I found the van dumped, all torn up and ransacked. Eventually I was told to do the same. The police had no interest in even seeing the crime scene or recovering the vehicle.
