Hungary lost hundreds of EUR millions on the Russian gas business. The Orbán cabinet decided to buy Russian gas instead of purchasing it on the energy markets because they said it would be safer to deal with a reliable partner. However, the country lost tremendous money on the Russian gas business.

  15. The question with this countries is not what regular Hungarians or regular Russians win but what Orban or Putin win. I still found nobody that could explain what regular Hungarians won from Orban blocking Finland, and later Sweden, I think they only lost a lot of respect and good will.

  21. Orban probably got some kick backs from Russia for continuing purchasing Russian natural gas.
