>The first trend calculations have arrived. According to the research institute gfs.bern, there is a trend in favor of accepting the initiative for a 13th AHV pension.

>For the initiative of the Young Liberals, which provides for an increase in the retirement age to 66, gfs.bern indicates a “no” trend.

>__Aggressive referendum campaign__

>Never before in Switzerland has a debate on a social expansion initiative triggered such strong emotions. That’s according to political scientist Michael Hermann in an interview with the Tages-Anzeiger.

>The Swiss have a lot of pent-up anger about the behavior of the economy. Cases like that of Credit Suisse have weakened trust.

>The initiative for a 13th AHV pension has led to a rare situation in Switzerland: Although it comes from the trade unions, it has also received broad support from the right-wing conservative SVP.

  1. Two things I always admired about the way the Swiss voted is that they understood, two critical things:

    * Infrastructure is yes
    * Free money is not free (and usually ends up being taken from *you*)

It was the only country in the world where you ask people *”wanna pay lower taxes?”*, they know that results are binding, and yet, vote “no” 😀 Sad to see this slowly going away.

  2. remember when we increased VAT to 8.1% because the pension system was running out of money

    lol

  3. I am so glad the way people voted. Thank you to everyone who voted yes for the 13th pension and no to working until the grave.

  4. Well the result of the AHV vote sucks because the retired people did obviously vote in their own interest and they don’t have to bear the burden of the associated costs (unless we get another VAT increase instead of Lohnabgaben).

  5. The AHV increase is such an incredibly stupid idea. I am so disappointed in the left for supporting this that I think I will break with the left because of it.

  6. Another gift to the most privileged generation in history paid off by the youth. They are truly unashamed.

  7. Disappointed in the ahv result… The money should more directly go to those affected by age poverty and not just everyone, even those who don’t even need it.

  8. The mandate of heaven has decided for eternal boomer subsidy and thus we got it.

Frankly still baffled by the lack of a counter proposal which included an increase to the minimal avs/avh rent: it could have been a more correct solution while minimizing the burden on the system.

  9. NZZ on suicide watch because the great people of this nation started using their brains and voted yes on the 13th AHV and not listening whatever daddy Christoph Blocher has told them. lol

So glad that pensioners in this country are not treated like worthless shit like in any other country in the world (and I say that as someone in his 20s)
