I went to school near Cockfosters, one of my very posh teachers would refer to the area as ‘Coh-fosters’ in an effort not to say the word cock. She would be happy about this post.

There was an attempt to rebrand, or rather re-pronounce, the area as ‘Coasters’ back in the ‘90s. Needless to say it didn’t get very far.
