  1. It claimed the manager received reports on the day of a dog, who was straining on its leash, reacting to visitors.

The manager said the dog had also been seen defecating in multiple areas on a few occasions, which he had never witnessed before with any other trained assistance dog.

WRC adjudication officer, Davnet O’Driscoll, said the complainant has medical conditions which are recognised as disabilities under legislation.

O’Driscoll noted the woman’s doctor had requested reasonable accommodation so she can use an assistance dog to support her with sensory issues and managing intense emotions.

  2. Aw that’s bullshit. It wasn’t a service dog and seemed to be badly trained. It’s not discrimination to be asked to leave just because you have a disability.

If it was a certified medical assistant dog, then fair but it doesn’t seem like it was.

Sure I’ll take my dog up to the cinema and just say it’s a service dog. Then when I’m kicked out I’ll claim the 500 quid too 😂

Edit: I phrased “It’s not discrimination to be asked to leave just because you have a disability” badly.

I meant she was kicked out for her dog being reactive and shitting all over the place, not because she was disabled.

  3. I thought WRC was for issues between employees and employers, not people who are customers of the business.

  4. I know it’s barely relevant to the story but it’s weird they call it Tayto Park when it hasn’t been called that in over a year

  5. I truly hope that, despite the paltry award, the management appeal this. It’s going to be a floodgate otherwise

  6. I think the biggest mistake the park made here was allowing her in the gate with the animal. I work in the travel industry and the growing amount of people with “assistance and therapy” animals is ridiculous. Most of these people are chancers. There is a huge difference between what a registered guide dog is and an assistance/therapy animals. A guide dog goes through years of training and assessments to verify that it meets a standard where it won’t attack other people or animals and can do its toilet stuff on command. I have come across a case where I work where two “assistance” dogs started fighting with each other and bit one of the owners. Most of these animals are trained by their owners to a poor standard and there is no national recognized standard for training or assessing these animals. A lot of these people just want a green light to bring their dog everywhere. What if a person is allergic to an animal in a indoor setting, does this person’s “disability” trump another person’s health condition? My company has come up with a simple policy in the public spaces they run and operate and that is guide dogs only, everything else must be in a travel box and not leave it whilst on the premises/travel vehicle.

  7. The absolute last place i wanted to go with my social anxiety and panic attacks was a theme park, this person is a total attention seeking knobhead!

  8. So basically, I can just claim that I trained my dog to help me and no one can stop me bringing him anywhere?

  9. I actually agree with Tayto Park on that one. The dog is untrained and unvaccinated. It’s not a service dog. The dog was reacting negatively to other people and shitting all over the place. It shouldn’t be allowed in the park where is so many small children. It dangerous. The woman was taking the piss and sounds like a right chancer.

  10. She was singled out because her disabilities were invisible?

  11. Anyone have a link to the Workplace Relations Commission decision? Their website search function is so shit.

  12. Not the first time Tayto Park has been pulled up for discrimination. Lot of assumptions being made in these comments the WRC report doesn’t detail the entire incident so big jumps being made. People claiming the dog wasn’t even vaccinated, bro how do you know? Arm chair detectives. All for disability rights until a disabled person speaks. No big suprise

  13. Isn’t it Emerald Park now?

Took the kids there at Christmas to see santa, no Tayto in sight.
