If they could rebuild medieval Warsaw pretty sure they can manage a squint pub.
… It’s a tree?
So they fucked around… now where are they exactly on the finding out axis?
The thing with this though is that it’ll have to meet modern building regs, surely? It can’t be rebuilt as it was exactly as it’ll be non-compliant.
It’s like rebuilding the Titanic from scratch – it would be aesthetically similar but under the skin completely modern.
Figuring that out very much seems to be a them problem.
Maybe if they haven’t been so blatant about the “accidental” fire they’d have got away with it.
I think I read somewhere that they had the bulldozer on site before the “accidental” fire even started.
Hopefully it’ll be very expensive to do it properly back to the previous condition.
Sorry I seem to have dropped my violin through the cracks in the pavement.
They’ll declare bankruptcy if their appeal fails and that’ll be the end of it.
100% this is to penalise the developers and make their land worthless.
Given how costly and time consuming this is the pub will probably never make a return on their initial investment. I can see them actually paying someone to take this off their hands or sell up for £1. Even then this is very much a white elephant, good luck finding someone passionate enough to take this on, you’d need some rich history buff who wants a project as a hobby.
The amount of coverage this story has got is baffling. That and the Willy Wonka thing are just everywhere. Almost like there’s bigger news going on at the moment that we should be paying attention to?
The landlord should have thought about that before torching it. Speaking of useless tools, though, I have a spirit level they can borrow for the job
I am really looking forward to watching the foundation being poured. I do not think it washes away any of the sins of Marco Longhi who has otherwise been mostly disastrous as an MP and has done almost nothing for people in his own constituency.
Sure, just get Wimpey in and ask them to build a non-crooked pub.
It can certainly be built to look exactly the same outside but level and regular inside, as a ‘tribute’ to the original. It could also feature pictures of the original and framed newspaper clippings.
It could be rebuilt in replica which would require very exquisite engineering and would be expensive.
Alternatively, it could be ‘themed’ as a wonky pub, where literally everything is off kilter, even more than before.
It is all possible.
What is not possible is to replicate the arrogance and stupidity of the couple who destroyed this marvellous pub in the first place.
A lot of people here seem to think there’s any possibility that the couple who knocked it down are actually going to rebuild it. They aren’t.
There’s about a million games of fuckery they can play to avoid complying with the enforcement notice.
This pub is never getting rebuilt unless some conservationists purchase the land and do it themselves. The land will be worthless to future developers while there is a requirement to rebuild the pub on it.
Yes of course you can
It will be more expensive than z normal one but it’s quite feasible
Just get any of the contractors who do new builds in, it’ll be back to normal within a day.
I don’t see anything wrong with rebuilding it as it was originally, before it went wonky as they can reinforce the ground to prevent subsidence, but that’s not what is required? It’s got to be rebuilt lopsided so tuff tittys ! Typically British on both sides. Fuck em but your beer in Aldi and sit on some rubble in a field.
They should just project a hologram version. Works for ABBA. That way, everyone can get their instagram shots without the hassle of actually using the pub, as before.
It’s Trigger’s broom though isn’t it? However well they rebuild it, it will still be a different pub, and intentionally crooked as opposed to crooked as a result of circumstance.
