So a Brazilian friend of ours is here on a student Visa… She learned English and has worked as per the Visa requirements, has done everything the right way… She would love to stay here and has no issues whatsoever in working and paying her way, but she cannot as the visa is up at the end of the year i think… But then we have to read about this shite, it makes your blood boil i swear..

If Asylum Seekers are given free accomodation and meals on top of that are allowed to work. How is that equitable working market if the next person has to pay rent etc?

This is fundamentally unfair to people who have done everything legally and paid their way into visa schemes.

The state should be looking at ways to legally deport migrants, not encourage them to set up here permanently, and bring over lots of their family and friends.
It might sound harsh but housing is in limited supply, public services like health and education are already overstretched. The line has to be drawn somewhere.
Sure people will say we should greatly increase the funding for the services and expand them. But that will take years if not decades. We have to deal with the reality of what we are facing now.
Take it what ever way you want, but the government appointed by the Irish people needs to and should look after the best interests of the Irish people first and foremost.
Further encouraging people to move here is not in our best interests.

A person in direct provision has all their accommodation, food and bills paid for so they can accept worse pay and conditions than a local can. Only thick locals have to worry about paying rent and bills. It’s a monumentally stupid race to the bottom.
