You want proper Norwegian cheese? Go for Jarlsberg (or “Nøkkelost” if you feel adventurous)
Best of them Jarsberg bought in Sweden ..More flawor dont know why
Wax
Cheese. From Continental Europe. We cant make tasty cheese. Yes. Im a Quisling who enjoys forign cheese. Sue me.
Swiss.
Wow I didn’t realize this was controversial/the cheese is disliked so much!!
I’m just a Norwegian, but Gouda is usually what I find most similar the Norwegian “gulost” when I’m abroad. Edamer is one of my favorite cheeses, though, and fairly mild in flavor.
I’m sure you could probably Norvegia in America somewhere. Unless you’re specifically looking for an American cheese that tastes the same (bland, that is). Plain ‘ol Norvegia is still the MOST sold cheese in Norway. Yes, we like bland stuff. There are of course great cheeses to be had as well, even among the generic store brands. Plain Jarlsberg is the most exported cheese, and has its own character. I usually buy the new “Østavind” – tastes like what you get in Sweden.

One completely devoid of flavor. Pick your brand.
