Hi r/Sweden members 👋, my friend sent me this picture of food in Swedish maternity hospitals, I just wanted to ask you is food like this because I can’t believe it! Food in our Serbian maternity hospitals are just piece of bread with wurst on the side!

Yes this is standard when a child has been delivered.
I don’t see how this is much different compared to piece of bread with wurst on the side?
Looks like typical hospital food.
That’s the wurst.
Jag trodde de tog bort paprikan pga besparingar? den blev väl symbolen över hur illa det är, jag har inte hört något om det på ett tag nu. har det ändrats? nu blev jag nyfiken.
This is the first meal given after birth. Very good presentation, considering how cheap the ingredients are. It takes so little effort, still makes everyone very happy.
If you are allowed to stay in the hospital over the next night, you have to make your own sandwich(es)
What’s in the picture looks good. But I actually think my wife got something even tastier after she delivered our daughter, Swedish meatballs with potatos and gravy if I’m not mistaken.
This is a standard welcome meal when you arrive at the post-birth ward. Certainly the most delicious cheese sandwiches in my life! You also get a starter pack with some diapers, some small size baby care products and such.
The mother receives standard hospital food. 3 meals/day. Some people complain about it, but it’s far as I’m concerned, it was far beyond what I remember from swedish school lunches. I’d say that it was competent lunch-restaurant food – nothing special, but you wouldn’t complain paying for it. The serving size was enough for my wife to ask me to finish it
We weren’t presented with breakfast like this when we had our now three and a half year old. We had to get it ourselves, or rather, I had to get it since my wife had been awake for around 50 hours delivering and then finally had a c-section.
Yeah all three times when we’ve put a child on this earth we’ve gotten sandwiches like these, coffee and juice afterwards. The regular hospital food though is another deal.. glad there are small restaurants in the hospital.
My lady gave birth last December, can confirm this is similar to what we ate. And cooked food on plates as well of course, these sandwiches are more like snacks.
Hey! Were are out fancy sandwiches! We didn’t get any wavy cucumber!
Or I might have forgotten. We were pretty occupied. 🙂
Me and my gf got the exact same platter 2 years ago in Malmö. Best fika ever. 🙂
Where I worked we got new bread from a local bakery twice a week, good coffee from a coffee store and food from some catering firm every day. The catering food was all right, a little better than Swedish school food. The personal liked to bake for the elderly when they had time over.
Oh yes, the cheese sandwiches afterwards were great! I was so hungry after 12 hours in the hospital.
Can confirm! I had some on January 9th. They swapped the coffee for O’boy however as I’m a grown up child with children of my own
Yupp we got the same when out kid was born 2,5 years ago.
Yes This is what we got 2.5 years ago.
Y’a it’s standard, in our case we got champagne as well
This is standard! But i mean, what is not to believe? It is some cheap bread with a slice of cheese and cucumber. Pretty nice, but maybe 1 euro and 30 seconds longer to make than bread and wurst…
You
This is making me want to give birth just for the sandwiches
This makes me miss school. Served fucking food with 2 alternatives everyday. Not the best like moms food, but still good.
You just went there and got served food. Lol.
I wish I had that today.
Now Im just paying tax so the kids of today can have it.
Helsingborg, tog studenten 2011.
Gick på husensjöskolan, elineberg och gymnasiet på rönnowska.
Yeah, I even believe we got some non-alcoholic bubbly wine
Can confirm. After 4days at BB getting this ingrained we now make tea and sandwiches every evening at home as well.
We got almost the exact same thing after my wife gave birth (BorÃ¥s don’t judge us too harshly it was full in Göteborg). Very cute and nothing like a tall glass of saft to raise one’s spirits.
LOL. This is also just a slice of bread but with cheese on it.
Would not call it food, is a cheese sandwitch to get the sugger up, they only get to stay a Day nowdays
I was in the hospital once and i got strawberry yoghurt and rlly good sandwiches and juice so yes it is this good in sweeden
A glass of foamy cider to simulate champagne – celebrate, too. But the most important part is the humane way of delivering. The whole experience. There is no judgment, no rush, no remarks. Just professional care and empathy.
I laughed when we got the sandwiches, juice and cider. After all the care and understanding, we got that little touch of humanity and hospitality.
One of the most delicious dinner me and my wife have had was on at the maternity place.
This was the most delicious and appreciated meal of my life I have to say..
Two things I miss about being in the hospital is the food and the hot nurses who brought you the food
Välfärd!
