Referee Gil Manzano’s blatant error during Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Valencia has finally culminated in a punishment.
According to Archivo VAR, the Technical Committee of Referees has officially communicated to Manzano regarding his error, resulting in a formal relegation to the sidelines.
Gil Manzano has admitted his mistake
Three days following the conclusion of the match, it has been learned that Manzano has now been sidelined. The Technical Committee of Referees has officially notified the referee of their decision to withdraw him from the limelight for a minimum of two days.
Acknowledging the mistake made, Manzano has taken responsibility for the subpar management of the match’s conclusion.
Right now, the duration of the referee’s absence from the playing fields remains uncertain, and he will also not be appointed to the VAR during this period.
It is to be noted that during the previous season, referee Ortiz Arias faced a three-week suspension for an error of a similar magnitude, and the action was notably less diplomatic in handling the situation involving the referee at that time.
What does it mean for Real Madrid?
While the result of the match is unlikely to be overturned, Real Madrid might win in their appeal against Jude Bellingham’s red card.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who scored the injury-time goal, was given his marching orders by Manzano for continued persistence.
Considering the decision the Technical Committee has taken regarding the match referee, it is likely that Real Madrid will win in their appeal too.
Lastly, it is also likely that if Real Madrid want to appeal against Joselu’s yellow card, received during the same incident, they might as well get that decision in their favour too.

Fantastic news!
Not enough
Still 2 points lost because of this shitty ref, but at least Bellingham could play next games.
He should never officially a Real Madrid match, he can’t be impartial.
Demoted him to segunda till end of the season. We aren’t getting those points back that’s 100%, but Jude red needs to be overturned
I’m a Madrid fan since 2000 but my comment won’t be a popular one, maybe I’ll be banned from here.
I’m tired that we’re discussing referees so much in this season. I feel really bad about Real Madrid TV’s videos where they are pressuring referees even before the matches. This whole “us against the world” mentality is ridiculous and pathetic. These videos are generating very bad mood and pressuring referees who will be more hostile toward Madrid in tough situations as a result.
Also these videos have a verbad effect on the club’s reputation.
About the Valencia case. Yes, it was bad decision from the referee. He acknowledged and most probably he’ll sidelined for a couple of weeks. Case closed, let’s move on. What else should be done, should the FA execute him or what?
We should be happy that we saved a point after being 0-2 down and that Girona and Barcelona also lost points during the weekend.
Let’s focus instead on how to not tie with mediocre teams. I get Valencia is stronger at home but we’ve been playing a bit ass lately. That to me is the much greater concern.
Not enough. This is literally the worst referee decision I have seen this decade. At least he should be downgraded to the lower division.
2 points won’t come back at least booking for Jude and Joselu should come in our favour.
Such a waste. Contemplate this on the tree of woe. Crucify him!
Demote him to 2a for a minimum of 2 years or get rid of him
