ITT: Americans confuse the Karl Marx Electrical Box in Cork with communist propaganda.

  1. Well to be fair his ideology did cause the deaths of over 100 million people and continue to fuel oppression in many countries. I can see why many would be unhappy about seeing his face. But yes the soyjack memes are silly

  2. I’ve an American mate who was taken aback by these graffiti when he was in Cork. He thought we’re serious about it, lol.

  3. Wait, why are there pictures of Karl Marx plastered around Cork?

If I seen that around Galway, I’d just assume it was the same group of plonkers that go around with their Che Guevara t-shirts.

Edit: I seem to have upset a few of the Che hipsters with that one.

  4. I’m fairly sure the lyrics are above the image on the box itself, when the context is explained in the linked sub they’re all complaining about how are they supposed to get it. Which is fair enough but whoever did it and posted it for their approval deliberately didn’t give the context by cropping it. Like even the people who think it’s erm, “based” to stick soyjack stickers on it might get an inkling something’s going over their head if they saw “I like your manifesto, put it to the testo”

Edit: I’m wrong, it’s on the box beside it, what they’ve for some reason cropped out is “Wilkommen”

  5. Ireland is generally a very progressive country with a history of socialist figures and movements lol. when you describe to people what socialism is without actually mentioning the word they tend to agree with it until they hear the word “socialist” and start calling you a commie lol

  6. Why does this thread like Karl Marx so much?

Communism is a stupid ideology, most of the problems Karl pointed out can be solved with better policies than the stupid shit he proposed.
