….Could we not have every news title use “blasts” for literally everything? The word is practically meaningless already…
I hope the foreign policy doesn’t change after the election. Because as much as Janša is an asshole, he also has balls. The Slovene “left” on the other hand is completely spineless and populistic and only follows the trends of Germany and avoids anything that could get them the slightest ammount of international criticism. I hope they surprise me.
Slovenia: not waiting on Germany to get their shit together
Based Slovenia and Lithuania.
Dominos are falling. First Lithuania, now Slovenia.
I love how this trend is catching on!
Why did Slovenia suddenly become pro-Taiwan?
I thought their government was closely aligned with Hungary’s Orban who is very much pro-mainland China
I’m a bit confused about all of this, since from what I can gather Janša is pretty much only suggesting we should establish a de facto embassy in Taipei, something that most European countries already have, according to this [Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_relations_of_Taiwan).
Does China have a problem with it because most of these relations were established back when KMT was still the leading party on the island and they appeared to be in favor of the one China policy, while the current leading party (DPP) opposes that policy?
Great news
Hope soon the EU position will change towards recognition of the independence of Taiwan. Trying to appease China will only make them more belligerent.
Glad to see that countries are losing their fear to China.
If recognizing Taiwan makes them so angry than they are truly not as strong as they pretend to be.
The only important questios is – what will be the name of the representative office? 😀
Liberal democracy is an outdated system. Change my mind.
I hope this wont backfire. Slovenia is too small and irrelevant to do such things without heavy consequences. But it is true in general that despite all his connections with Orban and his sometimes controversial statements, Janša is probably our most pro western politician. He is pro EU, pro US, pro NATO and pro Croatia. I guess he is similar to Baltic states in his foreign policy views. Our opposition is more pro russian and less brave on international stage. But sometimes it is better to be more rational. I think most slovenes wish to have more neutral Slovenia, which is bridge between East and West. This is probably legacy of Yugoslav foreign policy.
👏👏👏 massive kudos to Slovenia! Nice to see some countries have the balls to stand up to China
Wow very important news, a fucking representative office????? HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!
What else is taiwan doing, I’m dying to know, that’s why I’m subscribed to r/europe
