Google maps updated their arial view for parts of Lough Neagh. The country wasnt green enough so were filling in the blue bits now.

  1. Reminder, Edwin Poots used a “statutory rule” to cap the penalties for pollution to a maximum of 15 per cent of the basic payment all farmers receive from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DAERA).

  4. The lough is now basically a dead zone for native species now. Between the algae and the zebra mussles. The lough can’t sustain any life. The lough fly was also an incredibly important yearly food boom for many foul and fish around the lough. I remember growing up very close to the lough and you couldn’t leave your house windows open for fear of getting overrun with lough-fly, or your car bumper was the burial ground for millions of them during April – June, last couple of years, there was absolutely nothing. Ecological disaster
