  1. Killers of the Flower Moon: Yes, without a doubt.

    Napoleon: Meh. Up for debate.

    Argylle: Nooooooope.

  2. This isn’t anyone’s concern or business, it is their money.

  3. Just looked up world wide totals…. what the fuck? lol Killers’ is at 156 million, Napoleon is at 220. That’s insanely low, and sad.

  4. I mean, does Apple have any reason to care about box office performance? Argylle was obviously a bust overall, but Napoleon did alright with critics and Killers of the Flower Moon is a damn masterpiece. Apple has so many income revenues that they probably don’t have much incentive for these movies to do spectacular numbers in theaters. They have a popular streaming service with a lot of critically-acclaimed content, I think that’s more important to the iPhone company than box office numbers would be.

  5. It’s hard to quantify the value of these movies now.

I’m sure a lot of folks (myself included) keep the Apple TV subscription on because i know high these high budget movies will be available for steaming not too long after their release

  6. Well considering Apple is worth $2T I don’t think it really hurts Apple much and they’re getting their name out there in the movie industry

  7. This is Apple trying to buy some awards.

    A Star Is Burns, anyone?

  8. Watched napoleon last night, enjoyed the historical story

  9. I’d genuinely watch the version of Napoleon in that that thumbnail.

  10. Killers of the flower moon was nominated for how many awards? It had a short theater run and is already on streaming, I think they did alright considering.

    Napoleon was a disappointment.

The only reason to watch argyle is the cat and they didn’t even do that right, they HAD to pick one of those unhealthy ‘designer races’, instead of picking a regular type cat, in order to help shelters all over the world. It’s just like pugs, they’re so overbred that they’re in constant pain just being alive. The added movie hype isn’t helping anyone. They should be called out for this.

  11. Just watched Argylle, first hour was meh to okay

Then it tanked, easily one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen lol

  12. Napoleon and flower moon were hugely disappointing as a result I’m not even wasting my time with Argylle

  13. I say no. I didn’t think Killers of the Flower Moon was a good movie, and I always tell people not to watch it. Now I don’t talk to a lot of people so I don’t think I have convinced anyone not to watch it.

  14. KOTFM’s budget increased due to COVID measures, which is a shame. It’s my favourite film of the year and perhaps Scorsese’s best since The Departed (though Silence and Irishman were great, too)

  15. It depends on how you define “worth it”. I’ve had Apple TV for a while and never really used it. I did watch killers of the flower moon and Napoleon. And now I’m watching masters of the air and Ted lasso. So it’s at least driven engagement on their app.

Right now they are trying to build a library of programs that will attract people to their platform. Two of those three movies aren’t bad to have in your library. I haven’t seen Argyle yet, but I hear bad things. I’ll probably watch it though.

  16. Like me gambling $5 and then crying that I did not get it all back. These movies are just another way of marketing monthly services/subscriptions.

Personally, I am happy they are out there doing stuff that is more unique. The expense does not matter to them.

The alternative is the quality that Netflix brings to the table…wait…well…Argyle…

  17. These all just seemed boring or looked like they would miss the mark too much. I was excited for Argyle at the start of the trailer. Around the end when they showed the cat, I’m done. I don’t want a spy thriller or murder mystery to look to an animal for comic relief.

  18. Killers: Nope

    Napoleon: Definite Nope.

    Argylle: Nope.

  19. Fun fact: Argylle spent $70k on a stunt cat they didn’t end up using

  20. I tried with Napoleon. I love history. Have it a serious go but had to turn it off about an hour in.

  21. It was worth it for the states they shot in and the film communities in them.

  22. Did they collectively make more than $700 million? That’s the answer

  23. Argyle sucked and napoleon spoke English. Killers… pretty film that pandered when it didn’t need to.
