My father was in the U.S Army and was stationed in Nuremberg in 1952. Here is a photo he took with a marker that shows the city 10km away. Does anyone know where this was taken? It would be great to see a current photo taken at the same location.

  1. This marker gives you clear distances to 3 different cities. Should not be too hard to find the place on the map where the circles (around each city, with the distance given as the radius) overlap. Did that not work in this case?

  2. The sign says Nuremberg is 10km to the right. This is more likely a village outside of it. As to the other poster there is a Rothenburg In Frankonia, it is called Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Nuremberg was heavily damaged, this doesn’t look damaged.

    Check this [LINK.](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Rothenburg+ob+der+Tauber,+Germany/N%C3%BCrnberg,+Germany/@49.4269717,10.3014619,10z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x47988efdf06dff37:0x41eda32beb5f5c0!2m2!1d10.1867388!2d49.3801834!1m5!1m1!1s0x479f57aeb5b61cd3:0xdd5daf85a98c21b7!2m2!1d11.0766654!2d49.4521018!3e0?entry=ttu)

  3. The US Army had barracks in Schwabach. This matches the distance to Nürnberg ans Ansbach, this could be where the Foto was taken.
