Police Scotland will not investigate every crime

  1. Kind of like in Tesco when you Scan as you Shop. You can not scan everything but they might check your stuff when you pay but there’s a good chance they won’t.

  2. The ones they’ve highlighted they wouldn’t investigate kind of make sense though. If someone bumps your car in a car park and there’s no cctv then what are they realistically going to do about it?

  3. Glorified note takers these days. Anything short of murder don’t bother.

  4. Surely we can’t have common sense in policing?

  5. They seem to think blatant perjury in the Alex Salmond conspiracy is unworthy of investigation

  6. Sounds shit until you read the article.

States that crimes where there is no evidence (like someone returning home and realising their phone is missing) would not be able to be investigated as there is no evidence. In such cases they immediately let the victim know the crime isn’t being investigated as opposed to procedures being followed that take days.

The pilot states this has saved thousands of police hours which allows them to work on other cases, and it benefits the victim as they’re not given false hope and waiting a few days to find out.

  7. Some of the findings are astonishing.

“The trial freed up 2,657 police officer hours, the Proportionate Response to Crime report said.”

“At the end of the trial, 68% the officers noticed a positive difference to their workload”

I reckon I could have told them that if they were allocated less work they would have less work to do before the trial.
