“So you’re backing all of today’s Budget… you’ve got identical fiscal rules – how does Labour’s economic policy differ from the Conservatives?”
@vicderbyshire
challenges Labour’s Pat McFadden on the Party’s offer to the electorate.

>how does Labour’s economic policy differ from the Conservatives
SPOILER ALERT:
>!It doesn’t!<
I’m used to politicians giving non-answers but even by those standards, that was gibberish.
More Austerity only more efficient and more condescending.
Just tories being tories again.
Surely Labours entire policy platform is “We are not Tories” and screaming at the SNP?
There was this from the other week:
* [**Why is Labour still using the self-defeating, discredited ‘maxed out credit card’ analogy?** – *It is one thing to U-turn on a modest green transition programme. It is another to do so using mendacious Tory economic paradigms*](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/feb/15/labour-credit-card-analogy-mendacious-tory)
Oh and this from today:
* [Labour is literally peddling misinformation – comparing a national economy to a credit card is straightforward deceit – in order to justify keeping Tory austerity. They’re just deploying the exact same argument as George Osborne in 2010.](https://twitter.com/OwenJones84/status/1765367202708873503)
**Austerity here we ~~come~~ continue.**
They said how they were going to lay with things by a non dom tax and the Tories stole the idea and spent the money. Labour have the choice of sucking it up or going into the election with everyone screaming that Labour will increase taxes.
Its just the Tories laying traps to the detriment of the country
The point is we don’t yet know Labour policy. They’ll outline this in their manifesto before the election.
As we all know, the head room for any kind of giveaway or freebie is very very small. We’re not going to get substantial spending sprees from the new people, and the press are client media.
It’s going to be a tough election and a tougher ministry after that.
Both main parties in WM are terrified of admitting how fucked the nation’s finances are and neither have a plan to change things up. You have to ask when it just becomes dereliction of duty.
That Labour are backing everything in this budget without making it clear which services they’ll cut should they win the GE is entirely disingenuous which makes it extremely difficult for me to vote for them. I simply don’t trust them.
Answer: The Red Tories economic policy does not differ from the Blue Tories.
Hang on, the tories are literally stealing policies because they’ve no clue wtf to do. Their plan is power at any cost, & destroy the NHS, that’s it.
The voters outside looked from blue tory to red tory, and from red tory to blue tory, and from blue tory to red tory again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Monetarism in essence. Rubbish
The question is not why are we the same as them, it’s:
>why is this current government, despite 14 years of opportunity to improve things are only now taking our policies.
>either they believe them in which case why has it taken them so long and if so what’s the point in the Tory party, and;
> if they don’t believe in them why are the Tories playing election games when they should instead be running the country
The tories have been breaking their own fiscal rules and even stealing Labour’s taxation ideas.

Fucking rat bastards as any mafia movie tells us 😤
Four years of labour economic incompetence and making things worse leading to a rise of the right.
Looking forward to grand führer Farage, maybe that will wake up sleeping unionists then again who am I kidding.
