  1. Actions, meet consequences. She still has her Russian citizenship so she’s free to go and live in Russia, since she loves it so much.

  2. Other than Hungary and now Slovakia, countries are that have been oppressed by russia get it.

  3. I thought once you are a citizen you are a citizen.

  4. I was not aware freedom of speech is dead in Lithuania

  5. Perfect. Freedom of speech must come with responsibility for words spoken, especially when it concerns something or someone who threatens this and other human freedoms

  6. After all the incessant adoration some of these jingoes living in the Baltics spout for Russia, they aren’t keen on moving back and possibly helping to make their beloved motherland a little less of an authoritarian nightmare. Truly a mystery, we need inspector Poirot to solve this enigma /s

  7. Good. America should do the same for college students supporting Hamas or the Houthis

  8. Darn I read ballerina and strips,…. I couldn’t believe that such a good start of sentence could end up being as boring as it is.

  9. I have actually no issue with people having a different set of values, but if you hate the place you live in so much, why the hell don’t you just leave and move on to something else ?
It is as if humans were feeling the urgent need for conflict, rather than aspiring for a state of peace.

  10. And those pesky europeans will lecture my country Azerbaijan about the freedom of speech

  11. I do believe anybody who supports Putin is cheering for destruction of Russian people, first and foremost, to Ukrainians, and, unless is incredibly dumb, wants evil to the Europe.

However, this is an odd decision. Very political, and very controversial. And bad. It goes against what EU stands for.
Let’s say, there is a homeless Lithuanian person who shares the same opinion as her. After few drinks, he says what he thinks to someone. Would he also be stripped of citizenship? I don’t think so. He is not famous, nobody cares what he think. In both cases, no crime has been committed. How can someone be punished for doing something that is not even listed as a crime? For thinking something? And then, when being asked, saying it?

I will try to find out exactly what she said and did.

  12. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out you idiot

  13. this is the best solution to this russian plague. if they oppose the putler regime and war, they’re good. if they praise either: revoke passport and deport!

  14. EU should take Lithuanian example and start deporting country haters.

  15. Reading the article, it seemed that all she did was voicing support for Russia. Revoking citizenship seems excessive as a reaction, even for a country geographically close to Russia. The standard practice in democracies is to remove citizenship only when a citizen works for another country administration or they are elected there.

I understand that there are some mitigating factors, like the fact that the she is also a Russian citizens, stil I do not think it is a good idea. The problem I have with this new approach is that it negatively affects the whole population. Many western democracies are already divided as it is. I do not think that this strengthens the resolve of the nation. On the contrary, if [ostracism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostracism) becomes the standard response for voicing dissent or controversial opinions, our politics and our lives will become even worse.

I understand that people are afraid and are looking for symbolic responses, given that there are no effective solutions in the short term. But we should think about how similar *strong actions* done in past periods of conflicts, like the repression of minorities during WW1 (or WW2), are now looked with contempt and not good ideas.

  16. More countries need to be brave enough to take this kind of stand. You can’t move somewhere and be against everything that country stands for.

If you relocate, you need to learn to integrate

  17. That’s great.

Let’s not commit treason and make it sound like it’s acceptable because of free speech or whatever.

  18. I’m getting the impression she currently lives in Russia anyway.

  19. I think we should send all the MAGA supporters to Russia as well.

  20. If only all European countries would do that, we‘ll have a better world. If you ask me, all Putinists must stay in beautiful Russia and shouldn’t be able to visit other civilizations.
