There is no plausible argument where more human population is in any way “better” for the environment. All that is really debatable is to what degree more population is harmful.
I.e. population growth in high per capita emitting nations like Canada increases emissions more, per new person. Whereas population growth in a lower per capita emitting nation increases it proportionally less, which may be canceled (or exceeded) should the population increase enough. Either way, it’s bad news for the environment.
There is not a single environmental or ecological problem that is bettered by more human population. Every single one of them is worsened, as our numbers increase. There is not an exception to this fact.
Let’s get those numbers down even more.
Low numbers aren’t the problem. Villages exist. You can survive with low numbers.
It’s a matter of how fast the numbers will drop. That’s the problem.
The developed world is already dealing with this and they are using immigration as a quick slap dash solution, but when the developing world starts facing this issue too, we won’t really be able to use them as baby making factories anymore
