Anyone fancy training to be an Outdoor instructor in Ceredigion? Seems there’s a real lack of interest for this free course!

The FREE course I am on in ‘Sports and Outdoor Adventure’ at Coleg Ceredigion, in Cardigan, is due to be scrapped due to low student numbers this year. It is such a shame as both the students and tutor think it is just poorly advertised. It’s a great 2 and a half days a week course, suitable for all from 16-80 (if you’re fairly able bodied) and you get to go out on one of these days each week, paddleboarding, coasteering, kayaking, climbing, orienteering, hiking, doing bush craft, archery, tubing or other adventurous outdoor activities. You do not have to be super fit or have any knowledge or experience of sports or these activities. I’m really not that fit and just love being outdoors and trying different things. If you yourself, or if you know anyone else who might like to do this course from September onwards, call the college and express your interest in the course, it might just save it.
It is currently a 2 year course, but each year stands alone in terms of the qualification you receive. You can do just one year, or both. However, now it is under threat, they have told me this is probably the last year.
PLEASE CALL UP AND SAY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ORDER TO TRY TO SAVE THIS AMAZING, LOVELY COURSE, THAT SO FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT. (01239) 612032
They have already taken it off the web site before the formal decision has been made. Our tutor, who is fantastic, will lose her job too. Please, if you have ANY INTEREST, call up and say you’d like to be put on the list for it, if it happens, later this year. It’s my first year of doing it. I’d love to complete another and improve my qualifications, in this area, if I can.
P.S it is also a great course for anyone with ADHD, ASD, mental health issues or addictions, as well as those without these challenges, as they offer a lot of learning support there, and are sensitive to these issues.
They also help arrange travel from all across the county, including taxis from very rural places to a bus stop !

  2. I wonder if posting this in r/CasualUK would help as well – at least ask the mods before you do post there or even r/RuralUK might be worth a try as well and would Scotland be too far?

I hope they get this sorted.

It annoys me because rural courses like this are never advertised or mentioned and gets lost because people didn’t know about it.

  3. I’m not near Coleg Ceredigion so I can’t sign up, but I’ve upvoted and am commenting to help give you a little boost via the algorithm
