This is Garrison Foster, AKA Frosty. He’s an American Marine vet who just returned to Ukraine to fight thanks to a donor who used airline miles. He’s also one of the volunteers that Protect a Volunteer directly matches with donors and is here in the subreddit to answer your questions! Come say hello

  1. This is Frosty, one of the volunteers supported by Protect a Volunteer. He’s also on reddit as u/frostyukraine. He’s new here so please give him a warm welcome 🙂

Frosty recently returned to Ukraine thanks to a donor who matched with him and used their airline miles. We have many volunteers trying to return. If you have miles, please sign up to get paired up with someone at protectavolunteer.com. We have people flying from all over the world!

Frosty is also one of the volunteers you can directly match with. He’s a really interesting person to talk to as well and is one of the few foreign volunteers fighting in Ukraine who has made his identity public. If you have questions about what it’s like to fight in Ukraine or how you can support the war, ask them here! If you want to match with him and support him, sign up at the website 🙂

And you can follow him on Twitter at FrostyUkraine. I am trying to type the direct link and each time it corrects to a Reddit ID. If someone can help me out here please do!

  2. Good on you Devil Dog. Thanks for being the best of us, and being there for Ukraine. Stay safe my guy!

  3. All the best over there mate, stay safe, kick some ass!

  4. Goodspeed lad, give them hell, and thank you and your comrades, Ukrainian and other nationalities for protecting all of us.

  5. All I can say is thank you for what you are doing. You guys got balls. Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹

  6. I was a PAV sponsor of a former US Marine. I’ve heard you guys referred to as “crayon eaters”, and I have to say my guy must have eaten only the brightest crayons in the box because he was an incredibly smart guy, and talking to him was always a bright spot in my day. Good luck out there Frosty and take care.

  7. I support 2 soldiers for PAV and it’s been such an honor. Each has their own completely different style of communicating with the donor groups, it’s almost funny. Just be yourself and your group will love any way you are. Much respect to you

  8. It takes tremendous courage to do what you’re doing and you are nothing less than a hero in my book.

As for my question, what do you think are the biggest challenges or biggest needs right now for yourself, your unit or just the UAF in general?

  9. Thank you for doing what you do, the world needs more people like you.

  10. How many crayons do you have with you and what is your favorite color?

    Joke beside, be safe!

  11. Do you have a paypal, Mr Foster? I have fifty quid here for you.

  12. Nothing to ask. Just thank you for what you’re doing. Love from TX

  13. Thank you for stepping up, despite possible financial and emotional burdens and putting your life at risk to protect freedom. You are doing so much with the skills you have and I have so much respect for you going back a second time. Obviously war is hell, but this war in particular seems like absolute horror.

Can you tell us what normal folks like myself can do to best help you? I have donated to Protect a Volunteer a few times  but wondering beyond that if there is something that can be packaged to lift up your spirits during the downtimes or even during the midst of the fighting (ie foods, hand warmers, gloves, hell just about anything) sent over specially or if that just becomes too difficult logistically. I would still donate to protect a volunteer but am wondering if there’s anything I can send over to lift up your spirits or help in any way.

Thanks for what you do. You are amazing! Thank you for fighting for democracy and human dignity.

  14. Hello Mr. Foster. I am an American civilian. What lessons have you learned or advice do you have for Americans back hone to defend thier homes and families in the same kind of conflict going on in Ukrain? Thank you

  15. Fair winds and following seas, brother. Let us know if we can help.
