US supreme court justices skeptical about removing Trump from ballot

I think that the question that you have to confront is why a single state should decide who gets to be president of the United States it sounds awfully National to me is you know if you weren’t from Colorado and you were from Wisconsin or you were from Michigan and it really you

Know what the Michigan secretary of state did is going to make the difference between you know whether candidate a is elected or candidate B is elected I mean that seems quite extraordinary doesn’t it I would expect that uh you know a goodly number of states will say uh whoever the Democratic candidate is

You’re off the ballot and others uh for the Republican candidate you’re off the ballot and it’ll come down to just a handful of states that are going to decide the presidential election that’s a pretty pretty daunting consequence some of the rhetoric of your position seems to suggest unless the

States can do this no one can prevent insurrectionists from holding federal office but obviously Congress has enacted statutes uh including one still in effect section 2383 of Title 18 prohibits Insurrection it’s a Federal Criminal statute and if you’re convicted of that you are it says shall be disqualified from holding any office and

So there is a federal statute on the books but um president Trump has not been charged with that so what what are we to make of that

The US supreme court heard arguments on whether former president Donald Trump should be removed from the ballot on Thursday after Colorado voters filed a lawsuit last year alleging Trump was ineligible to run for president under a little-used provision of the constitution’s 14th amendment.

Most justices, liberal and conservative, seemed skeptical of Colorado’s arguments and seemed to agree that states could not act without action from Congress.

  1. They argued over state’s rights instead of arguing if an insurrectionist should be on the ballot. This is why we can’t have nice things. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  2. Wow If a guy is a convicted criminal and a convicted insurrectionist you should be on the ballot cause you were only convicted in it in 1 state? Hahahahaha

  3. This is not a political question. It is a US National Security question. trump promises t one dictator of America. Ignoring the Appeals court decision against him – trump promises to seizer power once back in office. trump promises not to be bound by SCOTUS once back in offie. That is a US National Security threat. I fully expect SCOTUS to ban trump from the ballot. That blocks trump through the front door – we can then expect trump to be far more aggressive after that.

  4. This isn't about "a single state deciding who gets to be President of the United States," this is about how Trump has disqualified himself from eligibility as per the constitution, and it is your job to hold him to our laws.

  5. Section 3 of the 14th amendment is very clear, and Trump violated said law, so why are we twisting the facts to avoid enforcing the law?

  6. The fact is Trump should be on NO ballots, he should be in prison, and there's no reason to keep trying to pretend that he is innocent.

  7. The be45t has never been convicted of insurrection; so, the Supreme Court has no authority to exclude the be45t from the ballot. Allegations and accusations, as valid as they may be, aren’t enough.

  8. The problem we have is trump hasn't been convicted yet even though it is obvious he is guilty. This is why trumps continued with his ridiculous time wasting appeals and filings. Just get him found guilty asap for the sake of america and the world.

  9. Please note who was guarding the capital that day. I think she tore up Trumps state of the union in front of the entire delegation there.
