Why Saudi Arabia is balancing between superpowers | Mapped Out
This highspeed train carries millions of Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia’s holiest sides the Chinese company helped build it China has become Saudi Arabia’s top trading partner and its top buyer of oil it’s a huge shift for decades Saudi Arabia’s key Ally was the US they had an unofficial deal the Saudis provided
Cheap energy to the US in return the US provided security with military bases with the threat of longtime rival Iran next door that deal was critical but cracks have emerged in this relationship including over human rights the Gulf States have been left feeling the US is an unreliable partner in the Middle East
Saudi Arabia is increasingly looking to China for security as well they have held joint Naval drills and reportedly bought China’s weapons but for now Saudi Arabia is still relying on the US that leaves the golf balancing between two superpowers
For decades Saudi Arabia relied on the US as its main ally on the global stage. But the country is increasingly turning to China.

i personally hope we soon won't need to be allied to that dictator, it's a disgrace
Who’s an unreliable partner there Germany?
Don't forget that most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi.
Why doesnt the us invade saudi arabia? Theres sooooooooooo much oil and very little poor people. Rich people need poor people to fight for them so it would be a walkover..
It's not "the Gulf;" It is, and has always been the "Persian Gulf"
