  1. In other news, politicians talk a lot of shite but don’t actually do anything until forced to do so.

  2. Didn’t this get mentioned in October 2022 ???

Not surprised, fuck all progress has been made

  3. They should have put effort into this instead of that bollocksology referendum today. .

  4. That article pic is not of people who’d be drinking at 6am lol

  5. And the gays weep that it’s again not in for Pride this year…

    It’s me… I am the gays.

  6. I need to hear it. Do people actually want to stay out till 6? They’re already in such a state at 3.

  7. No one’s going to be in a bar/ club till 6am at whats being charged for drink

  8. Goalposts on this have moved like 4 or 5 times at this stage 🫠

  9. Have to wait till there’s no more clubs obviously and have to let the vintners have their way with it first.

  10. I’ll be in a durable with the sesh when this comes in

  11. It’s about 20 years too late so thanks but don’t worry about it.

  12. Why couldn’t this have been a thing 20 years ago, I’m too old now.

    Signed

    A grumpy old bastard. (Me)

  13. Why is this such a granny country… ?

I used to live in Canada and UK and you feel so in control of your night. Two for one cocktails, endless different bars and clubs and different types of music, it feels like they are catering to you. Ireland is a fucking miserly backwater where the Catholic Church might aswell still be in charge it’s so fucking bureaucratic.

  14. What clubs are even there to stay open until 6am in Cork, Galway or Limerick?

Its a no-brainer, nightlife in those cities are dead.

  15. After 3am, drink goes to 25 euro a pint. We hope you drink all night/morning long.

  16. Just delete closing time altogether. It just causes problems and has been a significant factor in creating a really toxic drinking culture in this country (the race for last orders).

  17. The sooner the better. Young people diving deeper into debt and poverty while hitting the sauce

  18. Should have happened 25 years ago. Night life in Ireland has died a death since then, especially in the last 10 years. With young people drinking way less nowadays, and focusing more on health, along with the cost of living these days, I’m not sure how successful its going to be. Glad to see it will finally happen, even if my raving days are mostly in the rear view.

  19. Important issues like this are the key thing we should be asking the people in referendums

  20. Alcohol Action Ireland won’t allow them.

It’s so weird that 3-4 people have dictated all of our alcohol laws for the last ten or so years.

  21. The nimby types won’t want this so it’ll never happen. It’ll keep keeping put back and then delayed due to health concerns.

    It’s a horrid nanny state.

  22. See, this doesnt really bother me because I’m almost 29 and just the thought of staying out past 1am gives me a hangover.

But when I first heard about this proposal I can remember thinking that it was great. Like I was younger, and the idea of an all nighters til 6am sounded fun.

Such an inept government that it takes literal years to implement seemingly simple proposals lol
