Ha, she played Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach. Looks like she fit that role better than one of the sweet and caring teachers from Hogwarts.
It sounds like most of her interaction is with the hardcore fans who book her Cameos. “People say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding, and I think, ‘Gosh…” yeah, I agree with her. Idk if this is a hot take, but the theme of a wedding should be wedding.
Why? Harry Potter is about friendship, family, courage, loss, facing adversity, doing what is right, etc. These ring true regardless of age. It’s a shame she views a series she was a part of as being something so superficial as “these are for kids and no one else”.
Edit: Right. Themes are pretty universal. That’s the point. You don’t have to be a kid, and only a kid, to enjoy Harry Potter.
This is the same woman who bragged about flashing people, “creaming her pants” when a celebrity looked at her (i think it was Olivier), having her knickers dyed blue, eating raw onions as snacks, and forcibly placing a persons hands on her breasts.
Shes kooky and fun in many ways but its like the wierd aunt you see once in awhile who smells of mothballs and mutters about cheese periodically.
Best left in the home.
She’s right, you know
She’s not wrong. Some people are out here playing fucking quidditch with brooms.
What exactly is the difference between someone taking the Harry Potter books too far and taking their imaginary friend and it’s holy book too far.
Come at me when people start talking about living your life by the word of Dolores Umbridge, then maybe you’ll have a point.
“Harry Potter Actress Miriam Margolyes Has a comedy bit About Adult Fans: ‘They Should Be Over That By Now'” FTFY
Maybe don’t sell your soul on cameo then?
I think she is correct in one way, but places the blame on those people.
But I said in another thread – she has the kind of life where someone will _pay you_ to go to Australia and travel around and do cool shit.
Most of us do not have that life! Most of us have shitty sad lives under constant pressure. We are looking for escape constantly.
That’s what a HP wedding represents – escape from the real world.
lol I love people getting so up in arms about this. She’s a comedian and jokes around, and you don’t have to take what she says to heart. Enjoy Harry Potter all you want!
Meh…let people like things
Are old people just completely incapable of minding their own business?
I was hoping she was saying she hoped people would stop enjoying a transphobic author’s work tbh (people really should)
And I shouldn’t have kept trying to wield the Force well into my 30s but here we are.
I’ve never read the books or watched the movies but I’m in my 30s and I watch wrestling. So I really don’t think anyone has the right to tell anyone else what they should or shouldn’t like.

Let people enjoy what they like?
