  1. Jesus that article went on a bit.

    Break it down for me.

  2. Take off, nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

  3. The town is very picturesque and has loads of potential but….
Rates are ridiculously high for anyone wanting to run a small business.
A retail park was built for multinationals with lower rates in a drainage area. The lack of drainage caused flooding.
The multinationals at the retail park further keep shoppers out of the town.
Landlords want to convert their commercial properties into airbnbs.

  4. Slugger O’Toole lol Forgot how smug and puffed-up the pricks on that circle jerk site write. And Mick Fealty is a cunt that ran away from Twitter because he couldn’t control people giving him some back

    Ps Downpatrick is class

  5. Always liked downpatrick. I’m not sure why. But it always seemed like ot needed at least one big good employer in the area that give people decent steady jobs.

  6. I always thought it was just a nice, picturesque provincial town, but I’ve heard that it’s actually quite rough, the woman I was talking to ascribing the problems to an influx of ‘’rough Belfast types’. I don’t know if that’s a simplification, hyperbole, or just small town griping, but I was surprised.

  7. Never seen anyone call Castlewellan ‘handsome’ before.

  8. Downpatrick like a lot of town across northern Ireland, there has to be questions asked across the planning sector. How was XY or Z built when that is a flood plain.

Also the other question is why is there so many leisure centers etc within such a small close area. There is a 4 swimming pools between newtwonards, Bangor, Downpatrick and dundonal, then you have leisure centers in comber, Newcastle Killyleagh etc. there need to be a more think with each of these. If they not being used during the day then open evenings only. The councils need to be better effort at spending, increase in recycling their make money and stop spending money on revite schemes why should my rates pay for a business to get there building painting.

The world is mad – Downpatrick needs the locals to work in the local businesses like Finnerbrogue and stop thinking these jobs are below them. Money is money.
