His opinion is that the UK government will allow a border poll on unification as soon as they believe the Irish government is ready and they want to be relieved of the “problem” of Northern Ireland.
Not sure what to make of this.

Are Britain prepared to let go of such statesmen as Sammy Wilson, Jim Allister, Ian Paisley Junior, Jamie Bryson or Edwin Poots? How could they stand that loss?
Does that mean the prime minister of England isn’t here to make Ian paisley’s tea? To the credit of the british the sneaky bastards that they are they’ve created a situation where they get to cut ni loose and all the blame lies solely on the shoulders of the dup. Credit where its due. Milk and no sugar lol
Alderice summarises the problem of ni well. The british government want rid of us for multiple reasons (money sink, the constant collusion/war crime issues, legacy, etc) but how to do it has always been the problem. Ni has only survived on handouts since 1930 so we’re a constant noose around their neck.
The GFA was the long-term signing away. It’s just waiting until demographics and economic problems hit a certain level and then it’s time for a border poll to resolve the issue.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Alliance are shy-shinners, like for fuck sake the man looks like a Gerry Adams cosplay
Maybe this raises the possibility that the British exchequer will even financially support the initial costs of unification.
Brilliant
I’m sure if you check the newspaper columns you’ll find people saying the very same thing back in the mid-1960s, early 1970s and the post-GFA years. Yet here we are a quarter of the 21st century gone and we’re no further on.
