So pleased resource is being used protecting luxury watches…
I’d much rather so called stretched police resources were used catching sex predators in the met police like wayne couzens, or tackling knife crime, systemic racism, inequality… luxury watches would be low down the priority list 🙂
It’s what we voted for
Some of these initial comments are disgusting, just because people have money and are in a position to buy luxury items, it doesn’t mean they deserve less rights, support or recognition from the police.
This is quite interesting as it’s so prevalent while being hard to tackle; it unfortunately is a very violent crime too so good the police are acting. The fake Patek though. Hope the guy just gave it up and didn’t fight.
That said, I wish they were more proactive when my watch was stolen from my house. Zero help. Thankfully I had insurance and everything, plus it wasn’t sentimental but I’d have liked the response these guys are now giving.
This has been an ongoing problem in London for years now. It happened to me about 6/7 years ago. It wasn’t a violent robbery but a luxury watch was ‘hug mugged’ off my wrist inside a bar. Absolutely insane thinking about how it was done but it happened. The police couldn’t really do anything apart from provide me with a crime reference number for insurance purposes. CCTV from the bar was checked and I was just told ‘it happens’. Thankfully nobody was hurt and insurance payed out without a hitch.
This is as worrying and sad as any other crime but it is interesting to see the MET so involved into tackling something that impacts a small % of the overall London crimes and not as many notes or efforts for other crimes that have a higher rate, such as stolen bikes and smartphones
Is like we have normalised our pals or ourselves got stolen bikes/phones and is just “it is what it is”
