  1. Do they think capitulating to Hamas demands will get the hostages returned quicker?

  2. While they have an admirable goal, it’s worth noting that these demonstrations are not all that large. The judicial overhaul protests were hundreds of thousands, not thousands. Most Israelis who want hostages back also acknowledge that leaving the job unfinished, with Hamas in power, is only going to lead to a repeat.

Now that Hamas has rejected any deal that returns the hostages for a temporary ceasefire, even if it also comes with releasing thousands of terrorists, most Israelis know the only path forward is dismantling Hamas as the U.S. dismantled ISIS.

Once that’s done, the pressure on Netanyahu to resign will multiply. But most Israelis are not interested in dealing with that while Hamas remains very real across the border. Which is why these protests remain relatively small, and take place on the heart of the hub of the liberal communities of Israel, instead of nationwide like the judicial overhaul protests.

  3. Ok, by all means get rid of Netanyahu, but I don’t really see how they expect to get the hostages back more quickly under some other leadership.

The current sticking point is that Hamas refuses to confirm which hostages are alive, which is kind of the basic starting point for a negotiation (the ‘do you even have anything to sell’ stage of bargaining)

Do they seriously think that Israel should pull out of Gaza entirely, let Hamas retake control and hope that once they have everything they want they won’t renege on their end of the bargain like they did last time?

  4. We could/should aid them by refusing them weapons and letting Bibi know…no more blocking UN votes.

  5. I get the anti Bibi messaging, but what else can they really do about the hostages that they aren’t doing already?

  6. הניסיון של מחאת קפלן לתפוס טרמפ על משפחות החטופים די מחליא

  7. I’m skeptical that Netanyahu will voluntarily leave power. By which I mean he will employ any means legal or illegal he has access to.

  8. Nice to see that the Israelis haven’t completely made the same mistakes as the US after 9/11. They know who fucked up and they want him gone.

  9. That’s great. Many more Israelis oppose Netanyahu than Palestinians oppose Hamas.

  10. The “war” will last until Netanyahu can win the next election.
