I’m imagining a Man in the High Castle situation where students turn on each other in the name of the state.

I wonder, how much would it cost to produce a hundred tiny devices broadcasting networks that could be scattered around moscow? Cheap ESP32 boards or something?
And morons in EU will complain about being “censored”. And “not having free speech”..
That’s actually a very sophisticated vector of cyber attack. Just rename WiFi networks on most unprotected and badly protected access points. You can do something similar with IoT devices too. Imagine being jailed because of leaving “admin:password” on your cheap WiFi router.
> A Russian student at Moscow State University received a 10-day jail sentence for renaming a Wi-Fi network name to “Slava Ukraini”
Not that crazy when you consider that Ukraine is considered as nazi state in war with Russia.
We’re not far from people being bailed for Wrongthink at this point.
So. Let’s get 1000 ESP8266, power them with batteries big enough to last a few days, install them to advertise Pro Ukraina messages and spread them all over Moscov.
The Nikulinsky Court of Moscow arrested Moscow State University student Oleg Tarasov for ten days because of the name of the Wi-Fi network he created, it follows from the court’s database.
According to the authority, using the name of the network, he demonstrated the slogan “to promote the ideology of Ukrainian nationalists” to an unlimited number of people.
Tarasov was found guilty of propaganda or public display of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code) and his Wi-Fi router was confiscated. If the violation occurs again, the student may face criminal charges.
I’m wondering how big their jails are at this point. If anyone even is actually going to jail and not turned into cannon fodder
