  1. As far as I can see we’re only three places short of New Zealand and far ahead of the Brits. Clear win in my eyes.

  2. Or the mentally ill are allowed to be seen in Germany, whereas in other countries their struggles are forced to be kept invisible to others … at their expense.

    One of the two.

  3. So, Dominican Republic is the happiest country in the world? Makes more sense than Finland.

  4. This “study” is quite silly — it’s done entirely via internet, having people take surveys online. No wonder many low income countries score quite high — the only people taking the survey are those wealthy enough to have full internet access and the time and inclination to take little surveys.

  5. Well I’m originally from the UK so Germany is a big improvement.

  6. They really be letting anyone put “scientific” research online nowadays.

  7. No wonder Germans are so rude and seems angry all the time. 😅 I hope they will get better – mentally!

  8. What is going on with Australia? They have nice weather and quokkas…

  9. Good for us..we are not last 🙂

Germans like to complain about everything without being really miserable. They are happy as long as they can complain about something. So i do not know if this study is that trusting.

  10. Given the current state of the economy in Nigeria, I am quite surprised we are that far up on ‘mood and outlook’ 😂. But hey kudos to us, I guess.

  11. Nice, really nice. Let’s take a look at East Asia. As a German myself, it’s not bad, but Germans like to complain.

  12. Neuseeland nur 3 Plätze über Deutschland? Da lohnt sich das auswandern ja doch nicht.

  13. Are you sure that isn’t just self description differences? I have beaten depression a few years ago, got my dream job last year with an ultra supportive boss, nice coworkers and lovely tasks that skyrocketed our household income, and I got engaged. We also doubled our living space for the same amount of rent when we moved to my New job. I have a better social life than anytime since like grade 11. Just came back from a way too expensive holiday with my best friend. And much more.

I love my life currently. But I defo wouldn’t put in more than like an “Yeah, it is good/4 put of 5 points/85 out of 100 in any of those categories on a online survey like they used.

  14. I seriously doubt the Ireland rank, given their GDP and everything, and – by implication- the quality of the study presented.

  15. I lived in, both, the UK and Germany. I was happy on either side of the pond.

Would I die of a happiness overdose, if I were to move to the Domenican Republic?

  16. lol if you look at the “study” you will see how the methodology is laughable. Mainly, they claim:

    >The Sapien Labs Global Mind Project has collected data of mental health among the internet-enabled population, currently covering over a million individuals worldwide, including over a 100,000 from India.

    but then they say:

    >The findings are based on data from 106,427 respondents across 36 states and Union Territories, obtained between April 2020 and August 2023 as part of the Global Mind Project.

    >Globally, 1000-2,000 people complete the assessment each day and are added to a dynamic database

    >Data used in this report included all responses collected from respondents living in India by the Global Mind Project between January 1st,2020 and August 30th, 2023 after the application of certain exclusion criteria described below. This resulted in a sample size of 106,427.

    so which one is it?

Then of course, no errorbars no uncertainty calculations, to detailed sample sizes etc. And ofc self reported.

  17. So are, apparently, people in New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and the UK, all constantly talked up as amazing expat destinations (as compared to cold, rude, racist Germany).

  18. Always look on the bright side of life.

At least, Germans aren’t as miserable as the Brits.
