  1. It took them 2 years to realize that half of our parliament is paid by the Kremlin?

  2. Putin’s first job was as a KGB spy in West Germany. Russians have an almost genetic predisposition and institutional level of paranoia when it comes to Germans and it has only grown.

  3. Meh. Id rather say that incompetence makes institutions serve sensible infos on the silver plater

  4. Of course! They were the biggest economy in Europe. Russias invasion is destroying that.

  5. The leaked call has *nothing* to do with spies in Germany.  It happened via WiFi sniffing at an aviation industry fair in Singapore, an event with all kind of interesting chatter.

  6. That unfortunately true for a lot of European countries. London for example is half-owned by Russian oligarchs and Boris even gave a lifetime seat in the House of Lords to the son of a KGB agent.

  7. I remember an article a couple years back that featured an interview with an ex-American spy. He said that Germany’s intelligence agencies have always been comprised by the Russians/Soviets and is usually excluded from working with other allies’ intelligence agencies.

  8. Germany’s always had an issue with Russian spies. A lot of this is inherited from the Cold War era. Germany’s never had a particularly rigorous counter-espionage department, and the BfV focuses mainly on counter-terrorism nowadays. During the Cold War the US, Uk, and even France would exclude the Germans from certain operations out of fear that the Soviets would get the information 20 minutes later. (Instead of the 30 minutes it usually took)
