Fears for future of Gaelic language as community workers’ jobs under threat

  1. Can absolutely understand it won’t help at all, but it really doesn’t feel that the “survival of the language” should hinge on the existence of 20-odd community workers?

    Or if it does, it’s in a far more perilous state than I’d realised.

  2. Big part of it is lack of affordable housing and English moving up and buying holiday homes pricing out young locals forcing them to move away. Surely building strong community retention is what helps strengthen the Gaelic language?

  3. Much as keeping thr language alive is important.

    When the budgets across the board are all under pressure in all areas…Well. we have to decide that is the priority zones.

    They have ti balance alot of priority.
